LOS ANGELES, CA – The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences held the 16th Governors Awards at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood last night (11/16). Honorary Awards were presented to Debbie Allen by Cynthia Erivo, Tom Cruise by Alejandro González Iñárritu and Wynn Thomas by Octavia Spencer. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award was presented to Dolly Parton* by Lily Tomlin (*Governors Award acceptance recorded in Nashville). The awards, which are all Oscar® statuettes, were voted on by the Academy’s Board of Governors this past June.
This event was produced by Oscar-nominated producer Jennifer Fox and hosted by Will Arnett, with a welcome by Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor.
