In honour of the Citroen 2CV’s landmark 70th birthday, the 2CVat70 project will make its first public appearance at The Confused.com London Motor Show 2018, this May.

The 2CVat70 is a project to set a new record by turning a 1985 2CV Dolly, into The World’s Smallest Food Truck with a custom, state of the art stainless steel kitchen built into the back of the vehicle. Visitors to this year’s show will be able to enjoy the spectacle when she parks up at the ‘Built in Britain’ feature before she continues her journey across the UK.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the 2CV, a vehicle designed for French farmers to replace the cart and two horses (deux chevaux) – hence its name. This year the 2CV Dolly is being repurposed and returning back to the fields in the form of a food truck – to set the record as the world’s smallest. It will produce incredible and unusual cuisine, from cheese soufflé to Korean BBQ, all the while functioning as an educator on the prominent topic of food waste.

An expert team of 50 have just six weeks to make this amazing transformation. The project has been well supported and fans can even enjoy an array of customised items such as 2CV iced biscuits, handmade wax aprons and a range of British knitwear.

Andrew J Mellon, the Managing Partner of 2CVat70 project, said: “The design icon that is the 2CV turns 70 years old this year so we have to celebrate in style and saw the opportunity to educate the nation about the current topic that is food waste. With seven partners involved, the entire project is British designed and built and we are excited to publicly reveal the repurposed vehicle at The London Motor Show.”

Alec Mumford, Chairman of The Confused.com London Motor Show, added: “We are delighted that the public visitors to this year’s show will be the first to marvel at this characterful reform which is due to set a new world record and it is with great honour that The Confused.com London Motor Show will host the vehicle at the beginning of its UK tour.”
