4 Ways to Spice Up Your CV This Summer

If you’re looking for a change in career this summer, or even just a step up from your regular day to day job, the first place you may want to start is with your CV.

4 Ways to Spice Up Your CV This Summer

These are a fantastic opportunity to give potential employers a snapshot of your work experience, personality, and work ethic, but taking the time to make your CV shine can provide you with an excellent opportunity to prove yourself.

Take a look at these four tips for helping your CV achieve its full potential this summer.

    1.      Tailor Your CV to Each Job Application

One of the biggest things you can do to improve your CV is to tailor it to the job you are applying for.

Many employers now use screening software to sort through job applications, which may filter out CVs that don’t include keywords from the job description. Therefore it’s important to ensure to include these in each CV that you write.

    2.      Enrol in a Distance Learning Degree

If you want to boost the contents of your CV, and fancy enhancing your existing knowledge, or learning new skills for a career change, a distance learning course could be the best option for you.

The beauty of studying a distance learning course is that you can still continue to enhance your work experience without interruption, as the course is structured to allow you to study as flexibly as you like.

For example, if you were working as a teaching assistant, but aspiring to become a full fledged teacher, Anglia Ruskin University’s distance learning courses like the Education MA are the perfect compliment to get you on your way to securing a career change.

    3.      Keep it Short and Concise

No one wants to read 300 pages of a CV, so keeping the content short and sweet will go a long way towards you being noticed by a potential employer.

To do this, be succinct with your relevant work experience, and use clear formatting like bullet points to keep your CV easy to read, and focus on your biggest achievements and learned skills from each job.

Using a CV template may help you to keep the content short and relevant, and you can find these through websites like My Perfect CV, with free downloads to help you get started.

    4.      Include Evidence of Your Skills

If relevant to the job, you could include evidence of any skills. For example, if you are applying for a job in writing, including online links to your blog or social media can help to back up your claims and show employers that you are a knowledgeable candidate.

You can use online tools like Blogger to create your own blog with ready made templates, themes and easy to format content.
