Khyeli is a London based designer whose AW19 collection, Only Human, was presented to London crowds on February 16th during London Fashion Week.

In this new line, his love of architecture and mother nature are combined to help bring down the walls of xenophobia. “We all share the same sun and moon and yet we still manage to create differences between us,” said Alkhyeli.

Raised in Dubai and a student of architecture, his talent for fashion was almost completely self-taught and expresses his alternative version of the women he grew up with, usually wearing the Burkah.

Khyeli’s new line gets its inspiration from ancient Arabic poetry that describes a woman’s beauty as the moon and the stars; fabric tones are neutral, earth-like, serene, and graceful. The inclusivity of all genders and races are modelled eloquently in each theme of the performance. A combination of Gregorian chants, angelic choirs, and tribal dances project the sensuality and valiance of a woman as it should be seen with and without their traditional garments.“These women are paving ways and creating new things with fearlessness,” said Khyeli.
