After releasing a number of hit viral singles earlier this year, singer/songwriter Anna Thompson releases her debut EP: “Centerpiece” on 4/23. The powerful pop-driven 7-track EP is a collection of songs charting Anna’s journey as a rising artist and showcase her knack for blending confessional & personal lyrics with punchy-pop melodies.

The lead single from “Centerpiece” is “Dreams About Him,” an exploration into a personal experience Anna went through that eventually ended up becoming the catalyst for the entire EP. “I wrote Dreams About Him after having several recurring dreams about an ex-boyfriend of mine that I hadn’t spoken to in several years,” she states. “I was in a relationship that I wasn’t very happy in at the time, so I wrote this song to cope with the guilt I felt about my subconscious being tainted with another person. Mere days after writing the song, said ex-boyfriend DM’d me on Instagram. I didn’t open it for months, but once my relationship ended, I replied, and we reconnected. I wrote the rest of the EP about us reconnecting- us progressing from casually talking again, being in a serious relationship with each other.”

After fans feverishly begged her to release her viral TikTok original song “Get Me High,” it’s been non-stop for Anna Thompson. Since then, she’s released a number of singles (“Thirsty”, “Telepathically”, “Like That”) and garnered major support from everyone from fans on TikTok to radio stations in Brazil. Now, with her debut EP “Centerpiece,” Anna Thompson is marking the next chapter of her rising career.

About Anna Thompson

Anna Thompson is a pop singer and songwriter from Seattle, Washington. She’s been singing, writing, and performing most of her life and has always wanted the world to hear her music. At age 11, she became a student at the “School of Rock,” which inspired her love for rock music and provided her with years of live performance experience.  When Anna was 16, she submitted her music to a talent search conducted by a major record label.  The label chose Anna and offered her a recording contract.   Anna switched to home school to dedicate as much time as possible to her music and spent a year traveling between Seattle and LA, developing her sound, writing, and working in the studio. After working for almost a year, the label had a change of heart. It turns out that regardless of how talented they are, investing to launch an unknown artist’s career was a risk the label could not take.

Being told “You’re not famous enough” set Anna on a path to independently release her music and prove that having a million Instagram followers was not a prerequisite to success but the result of hard work and creating great music. She went back to her high school to graduate with friends and was accepted to the Berklee College of Music and continued working hard writing and recording her music.

Anna began posting about her approach to songwriting and featured several of the songs she was working on in these posts.   In October of 2020, she garnered a significant amount of attention on TikTok after posting a video of her singing her original song, Get Me High. Due to popular demand, a studio version was recorded and released in December of 2020, or as Anna said when asked about releasing the song so quickly, “TikTok pressured me into this.”   Since Get Me High, Anna has released two follow-up singles and had a few more songs go viral on TikTok.  Including one that recently passed 1 million views called Gone.  Anna hopes to record this song for her fans later this year.
