On September 21st at 8 Northumberland Avenue, APUJAN debuted its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, The Extraordinary Voyage of Captain Peach, continuing the label’s tradition of weaving fashion, literature, and fantasy into a cinematic narrative.
Known for blurring the boundaries of East and West, past and future, reality and myth, APUJAN drew inspiration from the Japanese folktale Momotaro—the story of a boy born from a peach who embarks on a journey to defeat demons with the help of animal companions. Reimagined through the lens of modern life, the collection transformed this tale into a metaphor for courage, identity, and imagination as acts of quiet rebellion.
A Story Told in Textiles
The runway featured over 100 developed pieces with 33 key looks, spanning flowing printed chiffons, featherlight knits, original jacquard fabrics, sculptural tailoring, and technical sportswear. Each garment carried hidden symbols: embroidered “read receipts,” fragments of handwritten letters, falling buttons signifying love confessions, and even historical Go game records. Ghost motifs—both playful and haunting—embodied the anxieties of the digital age, while romantic campus-life details injected nostalgia and warmth.
A Cross-Disciplinary Performance
The show collaborated with Asian cinema art directors, incorporating stylised demon masks as both props and metaphors for modern fears. Footwear was co-designed with NIKE, featuring the Ava Rover, Air Superfly, and Air Max Muse, perfectly aligned with the theme of myth and motion.
Music was central to the experience. Taiwanese artist Nichiharu Hibito (DJ so lonely) performed a live set titled Captain Peach in Acid Folk Dreams, blending Taiwanese folk with electronic, Lo-Fi, and UK Garage. Using guitar, toy instruments, whistles, and synths, he deconstructed the Momotaro melody into a soundscape that was both nostalgic and forward-looking.
APUJAN’s Expanding Legacy
Already a brand celebrated by ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel, Marie Claire, The Evening Standard, and more, APUJAN continues to gain global recognition with collaborations spanning Samsung, McDonald’s, Jujutsu Kaisen, and designs seen on red carpets from Cannes to the Oscars.
The SS26 show welcomed special guest Yamazaki Ten of Sakurazaka46 alongside international press and cultural figures. With every look, APUJAN reinforced its position as a storyteller in fashion, creating garments that exist not only as clothes but as living archives of memory, identity, and resistance.
Captured brilliantly through the lens of Matt Draper, The Extraordinary Voyage of Captain Peach proved more than a fashion show—it was a call to reimagine the world through courage, creativity, and poetic rebellion.
