International Beauty Queen, award-winning hair stylist to the stars and philanthropist Dimps Sanghani is driven by a simple passion: to celebrate her success by giving back to the causes where she can help make a real difference. Dimps is the current holder of the Mrs. England Universe title, co-owns and manages the prestigious Tiara Organic hair salon in London’s Kings Road and has recently raised over £300,000 for three international charities specialising in women’s and children’s protection and welfare.
A Qualified Success
Dimps was born and raised in Hyderabad, India and there began her extraordinary career. She worked as a hairdresser and started competing in pageants at a young age, where she was crowned Miss Country Club and Miss Hyderabad in 2000. Dimps followed her husband to the UK after their first year of marriage and settled in London, where they have lived since with their two children. Juggling motherhood and freelance hairdressing, Dimps set up a small hairdressing studio at her home, where her clientele grew. She even found the time to study at the Barnet College of London, graduating as a professional hairstylist.
Award-Winning Hairdresser by Day, Reigning Beauty Queen by Night
By 2009, Dimps’ growing reputation for top quality hairdressing saw her crowned Mad Hair Winner at the Charles Worthington Awards in 2014 and she became known for her celebrity hairstylist status, working with Bollywood film and television stars. This exposure led to her winning Hairstylist of the Year in 2015, at the sought-after Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) Awards. In the same year, Dimps was awarded the Gold Hairstylist award at the Black Makeup Artist (BMA) Awards. In 2017, Dimps decided to take her hairstyling talents to the next level and with her co-founder and sister Jigna Soni, launched their first salon Tiara Organic in Chelsea’s Kings Road.
To add to the growing accolades, in January 2018 Dimps was crowned Mrs. Asia UK 2018 and holds the title of Mrs. England Universe. She is currently preparing to represent England at the 2018 Mrs Universe Pageant, which will be held in the Philippines city of Cebu on 10th December 2018.
Giving Back to Charitable Causes Close to Her Heart
Dimps is a passionate advocate of women’s and children’s protection and welfare. She is the lead ambassador for the Gujarat Charity Bike Ride, an inspirational not-for-profit organisation with a team of 25 people, dedicated to fundraising for three international charities when each bike challenge takes place. In March 2018, the team took to the streets of Gujarat, India and rode from Junagadh to Bhuj to help raise over £300,000 for this year’s chosen charities, each receiving over £100,000.
The Inner Joy Foundation provides boarding and education for orphaned and underprivileged children in India. The Urja Trust, is a catalytic organisation for young homeless women, supporting their fundamental needs and focusing on a life full of dignity when all other avenues are closed. Finally, Raha International, a Kenya-based foundation that focuses on providing better opportunities for children and young adults through educational initiatives.
Dimps Sanghani comments: “I am certain that it is possible to achieve a good, positive and empowered environment for women and children to be able to learn, thrive and express themselves successfully. But sometimes people face terrible situations and circumstances where they feel helpless and without hope. I have a very strong work ethic, but I also want to ensure the rewards of that work go back into the right causes where we can make a genuine difference for individuals. Along with the health and happiness of my family, that’s what really drives me to succeed.”
