I am Usama Iftikhar (Sonu Khan) and I am from Abbottabad, KPK. I started singing since I was very young probably years old. But I didn’t know back then that I’ll get so into it and so passionate about it.It was quite difficult in the beginning to get going with music professionally since most people in our society don’t encourage enough or don’t support you to pursue it But against all odds I decided to do music anyway since it is my passion. I have achieved very little until now but I am focused towards my goal. is a great year for me. I have got quite a few hits on my videos on social media.I have released two singles till date which are : ”Is did mai” and ”Janiya” and I have also done a studio cover of Arijit Singh’s hit song ”Ijazat”. I have some projects in the pipeline that’ll come out soon. And one thing that I must say is thankyou to all the fans who have shown support and faith in me. Without them nothing would have been possible.
Hey sonu, how are you doing?
I am glad, and I welcome you to fabASIA magazine’s celebrity

which pop on to your mind telling you SINGING it is.
Ans). Well, I don’t really know when did I stepped into singing, I guess it was always within me.
Q). You gained popularity in a very short time, and now people
know you very well for your distinct and so melodious voice,
how do you feel being here?
Ans). I was always into it. like from the very beginning I was singing in school and then college but then people around me started appreciating me for my voice and I kind of started taking it seriously. But soon I came to know singing professionally is something else. It takes a lot of hard work. So that was quite demanding and I have tried to do very best of me so far and I am working more on it. And it really is not that easy as it seems. nothing happens overnight there is a lot effort and hard work to come this far and yeah i feel amazing, blessed to have such wonderful fans.
Q). Your favorite singer ? or I must say the source of your
Ans). Nusrat Fateh Ali khan without any doubt. I don’t think that there has ever been a singer as great as him. And if you talk about current era Arijit is one of my personal favorites.
Q). As you are too young right now how do you manage b/w
studies and singing?
Ans). That really is the hardest part you know No matter how good you are at anything, but if you are not good at your studies that put a lot of question marks on you from society and people around you. so I had to coup with that aspect as well. I have recently completed my graduation in Computer Sciences and I’m looking forward to doing my Masters Degree.
Q). Your videos and pictures tells us that you also have command
over some instruments, if I am not the wrong drum it is, did you
ever take musical classes or it is God gifted talent?
A). As far as I think its always about interest and you always find a way to do something you love and music obviously is my first love so it
Q). You have done so many concerts so far, don’t you find it
difficult to cover different songs of different singers, live?
A). Performing live is totally another art. You always have to be on point with your singing first of all and then the second thing is you have to happened just because of interest. I play guitar, I also am a percussionist( that includes all beats instruments) and I have never taken any classes. I am more of a self-made musician but I did learn everything I could from other musicians whenever I met them.engage the crowd you have to guess that what type of music can attract the audience and that’s a quite difficult task and I try to do justice every time I am live in a Concert.
Q). Your own composition janiya , gained popularity. What are your plans for releasing your own album??
A). ”Janiya” is very close to my heart. And I would like to mention here the name of a very close friend of mine and a very gifted musician Umar Tariq. (guy you often see playing guitar in my videos)
He and I both composed ”Janiya” and that all happened so quickly that we were surprised ourselves. We were both there doing a random jam session when Umar randomly started playing some chords and lyrics started coming into my mind so quickly. I just discussed those lyrics with him and he insisted to carry on with that and we were so into it that everything fell perfectly in place in just one night and it was ready.
And I thank people for loving that song. And Yeah we are working on our album and IA soon you’ll see our first album.
Q). Obviously, it requires an immense support of friends and family
to initiate or to step into something as challenging as singing,
who was support of your family and friends?
A). Yeah, you are absolutely right. And I am quite blessed to have such a supporting family. My parents were not in the favor of singing initially but when they were satisfied with my studies they didn’t stop me from doing music and now they fully appreciate and support me.
And I was very lucky to have a few friends with great music sense who encouraged me and motivate me to always keep doing better and better. Umar is definitely one of them and beside him, Naveed and all my friends are very supportive.
Q). Your comments and views about the present music industry?
A). Presently, if we talk about Pakistani music industry it’s doing very good right now and we see a lot of talented people coming forward. And I must say platforms like coke studio and Nescafe basement have done a really great job in the evolution of music in Pakistan.

Man, who is that lady in your case?
A). My mother is the lady behind my success. Whatever I am today, I am only because of my mother’s support and prayers.
Q). Your fans say that you have a painful and an appealing voice,
so I want to ask what is the reason behind your voice being
A). The reason behind the painful voice. Well, everyone has the painful side but I think true music comes from within. The more you do it from the heart, the more effective and worth listening it becomes. And yeah people can always relate pain with heart touching songs.
