London | Friday, 9 January — BAFTA has officially unveiled the longlists for the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards, marking the start of Round Two of voting. The next phase will determine the final nominations, which will be announced on Tuesday, 27 January at 12:00 GMT via a global livestream from BAFTA’s headquarters at 195 Piccadilly, London.
This year’s longlists cover 25 award categories, including Best Film, Director, Cinematography, Documentary, Film Not in the English Language, Casting, Children’s & Family Film, and the four performance categories. In total, 82 films have been longlisted, highlighting a strong presence of British talent alongside global filmmaking voices.
Round Three of voting will later decide the winners, who will be revealed at the EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony on Sunday, 22 February 2026. The ceremony will take place at the Royal Festival Hall at London’s Southbank Centre and will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer, with international coverage to be announced. The event will be hosted by award-winning actor, writer, producer, and television presenter Alan Cumming.
Emily Stillman, Chair of the BAFTA Film Committee, praised the quality of this year’s selections, saying the longlisted films reflect “a year of outstanding filmmaking” marked by bold storytelling and exceptional craftsmanship. She also highlighted the strong contribution of the British film industry across talent, locations, infrastructure, and storytelling.
BAFTA’s voting process involves its 8,300-strong global membership and takes place over three rounds: Longlisting, Nominations, and Winners. The longlisting stage, now in its fifth year, aims to give more films early recognition and ensure fair consideration regardless of marketing budgets. Voting members are required to watch the longlisted films before voting in later rounds, with films available both in cinemas and via BAFTA View, BAFTA’s online screening platform.
Round Two voting runs from Friday, 9 January to Tuesday, 20 January 2026, while Round Three will take place from Wednesday, 28 January to Tuesday, 17 February 2026.
The EE Rising Star Award, the only category voted for by the public, will celebrate its 21st anniversary in 2026. The nominees will be announced on Wednesday, 14 January, with the winner revealed during the awards ceremony.
