Bahman Ghobadi dedicated the prize of the “Izmir” film and music Festival of Turkey to the brave and heroic women of his homeland.

According to the report of Mansour Jahani, an independent and international cinema reporter, Bahman Ghobadi, cinema director, dedicate the artistic and intercultural achievement award of the third edition of the “Izmir” International Film and Music Festival, Turkey, to the brave and heroic women and girls of his country, especially the mother of Kian Pirfalak.

The Izmir Festival this year awarded its honorary Crystal Flamingo Award and its artistic and intercultural achievement to Bahman Ghobadi, and this prominent cinema director, who could not attend this event due to his busy schedule. But through a video message Ghobadi sent to the festival; He dedicate this award to all the women of his country, especially to Mrs. Zeinab Moulairad, the mother of Kian Pirfalak.

Ghobadi’s films in the absence of this director screened during the festival and the audience had Q&As after.

Honorary awards were also given to Oscar-winning Hungarian director and writer István Szabó.

Izmir International Film and Music Festival was established by the initiative of Tunc Soyer, the mayor of Izmir, in line with the goal of turning Izmir into a city of culture and art and paying special attention to the cinema industry.

The third edition of this artistic event in various competitive and non-competitive sections, including; National Competition, International Competition in the form of showing 100 feature films, 20 short films, question-and-answer sessions, special interviews with prominent cinema professors, holding music concerts, etc., on the 16 to 22 June 2023 in the city of Izmir in Turkey.
