It won’t be panto season without a visit to Charing Cross Theatre to see their latest wacky, fun and sexy holiday show.

This year we are treated to ‘Beauty and Beast: A Horny Love Story.’ And yes, it’s full of innuendos, a sing-a-long, a crazy cast of characters, a drag queen, and lots and lots of hilarious jokes!
From the writers (Jon Bradfield and Martin Hooper of He’s Behind You!) who brought us ’Sleeping Beauty Takes a Prick’ (one of the gayest pantomines ever) bring us this new adult panto, and yes it’s gay (no it isn’t, yet it is!). It’s a take, obviously, on Disney’s ‘Beauty and Beast’ (obviously) and is a festive romance that involves the beast (Keanu Adolphus Johnson) and the beauty (almost the rest of the cast!!), and luckily includes the hilarious drag queen with all the best lines (Matthew Baldwin – who is superb!).
Set in the Scottish village of Lickmanochers, innocent Bertie (Matt Kennedy) dreams of a new life away – and hopefully some action – when he embarks on a mission to rescue his mammy from a beast-ridden and bizarrely haunted castle which is full of a cast of characters so unlike anything you’ve seen on a London stage. Laura Anna-Mead plays Bertie’s equally frustrated lesbian sister. Baldwin is memorable as Bertie’s overbearing mother and Chris Lane is the evil and villainous Cornelius. Lane is so evil that he’s booed every time he is on stage!
Beauty and the Beast: A Horny Love Story is a fun, fun, fun show to catch in between your Christmas shopping and parties, a good 2 hours of sitting back, enjoying the show and laughing your head off. But be quick, most of the evening shows in December are already sold out, but there is good availability later in the month and into January before the show closes on January 11th.
We are looking forward to the next He’s Behind You production – perhaps a take on Wicked and call it Wacked? hmmmm…..
