The two-day event saw over 20,000visitors attend the biggest Asian consumer event in Europe

With the Indian wedding industry valued at over £12 billion, Europe’s largest National Asian Wedding Show and India Fashion Week returned to the UK this weekend, this time debuting at Olympia London.Held on the 11thand 12th of November, this year’s show built on the unprecedented success of last year’s, attracting stellar crowds in excess of 20,000. The shows boasted the accolade of being the largest indoor Asian consumer event in Europe, with 340 exhibition stands covering over 8,000 square metres, along with a series of catwalks throughout the two days, presenting the latest trendsetting wedding designs from top Indian designers.

The two-day event focused on the marriage between the fashion and wedding industry, providing the perfect concoction for bridegrooms to gain a unique opportunity to browse some of the finest wedding couture and invaluable planning tools all under one roof.

For decades, India has established itself amongst the most desirable destinations in the world for soon-to-be brides and grooms, seeking elegant wedding garments and fashion inspiration. Without the need to head East, visitors were given the unique opportunity to seize the latest offerings straight from India, courtesy of the Femina India Wedding Show, which was exclusively curated by The Times Group and Femina Magazine.

Visitors were left inspired by exquisite designs and innovative styling ideas, taking the idea of dream weddings to new heights. It was the perfect opportunity to get the front-row viewing of this season’s latest bridal trends first hand, with Illamasqua Indian Fashion Week London. Space was complemented by a state of the art auditorium with tiered seating, showcasing a vast array of the most exciting designers at the pinnacle of the industry from both India and the UK.

The two-day wedding show culminated with Bollywood starlet Prachi Desai walking the IllamasquaIndia Fashion Week London as the showstopper.

Also at Ilamasqua India Fashion Week London, the RC Dalal Memorial Award for the most Inspirational Fashion Designer of the Year 2017 made its debut. Held in honour of Mr RC Dalal, Founder of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, who was instrumental in the conceptualisation of India Fashion Week London, the inaugural award was presented to NitiSingalof Twee in One.

Speaking about the show and her experience in walking the ramp as the showstopper, Prachi Desai said: “It’s been an incredible honour being in London to present the best of Indian design and culture to a diverse audience. I really enjoyed walking the ramp for Illamasqua India Fashion Week London at the National Asian Wedding Show and interacting with the community in Britain and London. It’s also incredible to see Indian designs and fashion being presented with such grandeur on a global platform, and it is only befitting that it is London.”  

 The National Asian Wedding Show was an indispensable platform for bridegrooms, with an interactive catalogue of some of the most seasoned wedding experts from across the UK on the show, giving consumers exclusive insight and access to the industry’s most sought-after wedding suppliers. From finding the perfect venue to sourcing that dream outfit, top-class photographer, luxury wedding car, caterer, stylist, mehndi artist, DJ and plenty more, the shows formed the ultimate wedding experience of the year.
