London, UK – September 2025 – Birmingham City University (BCU) made history this season as its BA Fashion graduates opened London Fashion Week with their showcase The Waiting Room. The moment was hailed as both “groundbreaking” and “transformative”, cementing the university’s growing influence in global fashion education while celebrating the Midlands’ rich legacy of craftsmanship, design, and innovation.
Organised by the British Fashion Council and presented by 1664 Blanc, London Fashion Week ran from 18–22 September 2025, with names such as Burberry, Simone Rocha, Roksanda, Aaron Esh, and Tolu Coker. But it was BCU’s visionary cohort who set the tone, presenting work that pushed craft, sustainability, and storytelling into bold new territory.

Collections explored themes ranging from reinvented tailoring with deadstock fabrics to saddle-making heritage leatherwork, biomaterials that evolve with wear, and deeply personal narratives of memory, identity, and intimacy. The Waiting Room became a showcase not only of technical mastery but also of the emotional depth and inclusivity driving the next generation of British fashion.
