London’s infamous Borderline venue, nestled in the heart of Soho is set to rekindle our love affair with all things funk, soul, disco, motown with some good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll thrown in. Kicking off Friday 8th June and running weekly thereafter this soul tapping, finger clicking event will use every ounce of Borderlines extensive lighting to produce a festival worthy show for a fraction of the price. Disco balls will spin, confetti will pop while a headline covers band will play classics with specially curated DJ’s either side, set to keep the party dancing to 4am. Each event will be unique in its own right at this 300 capacity venue with advance tickets just £5. Door tickets just £10.
DJs will be sourced from reputable spaces and brands around London that reflect similar music policies to Motorcity’s own, while the live aspect of the night will be a “covers” set from a reputable act playing big, accessible, groovy tracks.
Following relentless venue closures across the capital, Borderline has an oscar worthy track record. A favourite haunt of artists such as R.E.M, Rage Against The Machine, PJ Harvey, Mick Jagger, Oasis and Eric Clapton through the 90’s now set to fill the late night live music gap in Central London with quality, fun and soul. For those looking for that extra funk, cocktails are served all night long while the bar features all the usual tipples.
Situated in the heart of Soho, a stone’s throw from the point where Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street meet, Borderline’s key location has always been highly sought after. Now they are utilising the space to bring the funk, soul and magic back to Soho’s live music scene.
