A photograph can be an instant of life captured for eternity that will never cease looking back at you.
Brigitte Bardot (1934 – 2025)

The archetypal sex bomb Brigitte Bardot was the first French star ever to attain a level of international success comparable to America’s most popular icons. She was certainly in the 50s the one who projected a bold unrivalled image of feminine identity and erotic power. A woman famous enough to be known by her initials: B.B.

When Brigitte Bardot attended a press conference at the Hotel Plaza in New York in 1965 for « Viva Maria », a movie which had just been directed in Mexico, there was a horde of journalists. Solange was there with the famous photographer Jean-Pierre Laffont. She was not yet a photographer herself at that time. Thus, let’s pay no heed to the quality of these small format snapshots that she took that day with the non-professional camera she had grabbed before going to the Plaza; these photos are simply all the more precious as they are an amazing testimony of a bygone era and of a sex bomb who made cinematic history.
