New York based newcomer Camryn Quinlan shares the vibrant and heartfelt new single ‘Light of Day’ (Nov 1st), released ahead of the upcoming debut EP ‘If We’re Being Honest’.
Having built a strong following (215k on instagram, 46k on Tik Tok) gigging across her home city, the 17-year-old singer-songwriter showcases her strikingly complete sound, despite being only her second official release. Produced by Baldvin Hlynsson, ‘Light of Day’ opens with a reflective tone as Camryn’s silky vocals glide over strummed acoustic guitar. Gradually adding layers of intricate bluesy piano and warming bass, the track’s infectiously catchy chorus opens out with a wash of choral vocal harmonies to highlight the main melody.
Camryn’s introspective, heartfelt and ever relatable lyricism shines bright throughout the track. Adding djembe and percussion to the second chorus, the track dips into a reflective middle eight before growing once more into a climactic final chorus.
Speaking about the track, Camryn explains:
“Light of Day is about finding someone that makes your life better just by coming into it. It’s a song that lets you appreciate a special person that changes the day to day life for you and makes the darkness you face, a little easier.”
The upcoming EP If We’re Being Honest promises a collection of songs that are both lyrically profound and musically rich as Camryn showcases her strikingly complete sound, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of artists including Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Chappell Roan.
Following the success of her radiant and emotive debut ‘Hourglass’ which gained acclaim across the likes of Earmilk, Lock Magazine and Atwood, Camryn is building on her already feverish following, putting her first studio releases out into the world. With live performances across New York including highlights at Rockwood Music Hall and BMI Showcase at Rockwood, Camryn is well already established as one to watch.
