    The ‘Couture Melange’ Fashion Show, held on Monday, April 29, was a resounding success, leaving attendees spellbound with its fusion of haute couture, culture, and creativity.

    Hosted by Nayha, the BBC Asia radio host and official presenter for Cultural Style Week UK, the event unfolded in the vibrant heart of Regent Street, Central London.

    Guests were greeted with flair and sophistication as they arrived at a chic drinks reception and a glamorous red carpet entrance supported by Qcast, setting the stage for an unforgettable night in the heart of Regent Street, Central London.

    The evening showcased stunning designs from renowned fashion visionaries, with each collection mesmerizing the audience with its unique blend of tradition and innovation.

    True to Cultural Style Week’s ethos, the event was more than just about style; it was a narrative, blending creativity with storytelling and narration to infuse depth and meaning into the runway.
    The show began with a show-stopping appearance by Miss England, Jessica Ashley, who graced the runway in the iconic dress she wore during the Miss World competition.

    “It was great to have been invited to be a part of Cultural Style Week, where I was lucky enough to re-wear my stunning national costume from the 71st Miss World Contest, designed by Puneet Bhandal. We live in a multicultural country, so I think it’s a brilliant idea that we celebrate fusions of fashion from around the world.     Following this, guests were treated to an exclusive interview with Puneet Bhandal, the talented designer behind the breathtaking creation.
    Puneet Bhandal also showcased “Crimson Fusion: A Symphony of East Meets West,” which seamlessly blends vibrant hues, ethnic embellishments, and Western cuts, celebrating cultural interplay in fashion.
    Kwame Koranteng Bespoke Tailoring by Kwame Koranteng (KKBT) introduced “The Grace Collection,” a refined fusion of colorful African designs and traditional British bespoke tailoring, celebrating Africa’s vibrant visual environment with striking colors and patterns inspired by his Ashanti heritage.

    Westminster fashion student Shihting Tseng‘s collection, “Behavioural Sink,” explores contemporary social challenges like aging populations and declining birth rates, drawing inspiration from John B. Calhoun’s Universe 25 experiment to probe hidden societal dynamics, with a focus on Asian societal challenges and non-mainstream cultural aspects.

    Xinchen Fan, the creative director of Hmo and a Westminster fashion student designer, unveiled the “Life as Dream” collection, delving into the ephemeral boundary between reality and dreams, inspired by a foggy sunrise and cherished memories of a traditional Chinese wooden home, skillfully marrying physical fashion elements with abstract themes to offer a thoughtful interpretation of perception and identity.

    Unro Janchiv, Cultural Envoy of Mongolia and Westminster alumni, presented the “Fire and Sky” collection, showcasing Mongolia’s rich cultural tapestry by featuring vintage pieces from the Khalkha and Durvud ethnic groups, honoring their unique traditions and styles with fiery red and blue inspirations.

    Anor Living by Liliya presented their Spring Collection, featuring gorgeous Ikat dresses and coats inspired by the colorful and detailed Ikat fabrics of Uzbekistan, skillfully blending heritage and modernity to convey the essence of ancient designs in contemporary fashion, inviting fashion enthusiasts to explore the beauty and craftsmanship of Ikat.

    Westminster fashion student designer Hanbai Zhang, the creator of MagBai, unveiled the “Memory” collection, an intimate exploration of life memories, influenced by her rich variety of childhood experiences and Chinese culture to infuse each piece with warmth and vibrancy.

    Sarah Diodonita presented “Quarter of a Century,” a significant milestone in her creative journey as a Westminster fashion student designer, blending modern design with diverse cultural inspirations to advocate for international solidarity while honoring her development and the fusion of traditional history with modern aesthetics.

    Westminster fashion student designer XiaoTing Chen presented “Journey to Fairyland,” a collection inspired by the haunting allure of an abandoned cave in 1990s China, blending vibrant yellow hues symbolic of Daoism with gloomy greys to explore themes of cultural decay and secularization while embracing the refined beauty of Chinese heritage.

    Jatin Patel, the designer behind Kalikas Armour, unveiled “AmbaKasi – Homage to my Grandmothers,” a stunning showcase that was the finale of the fashion show, featuring a total of 14 meticulously crafted pieces, with many new creations custom-made specifically for the event.

    Elegantly merging exclusive new designs with signature archival elements, Jatin celebrated femininity through sophisticated evening wear, occasion wear, and daywear intended as sartorial armor for the modern world.

    “Couture Melange was an opportunity to showcase high-quality, custom-made garments that represent a diverse and eclectic blend of styles, cultural influences, and design elements. The show was amazing.”

    With the valued support of the esteemed University of Westminster, ‘Couture Melange’ was an enchanting display of designs from Westminster fashion students alongside emerging and established designers. It truly was an evening of visually spectacular cultural haute couture and culturally inspired fashion designs with a modern twist.
