CHELSI LAUREN comes with a music pedigree that is very rare for emerging British artists nowadays. Some will remember Chelsi Lauren from previous collaborations with UK rap duo Krept & Konan, especially on their seminal mixtape Tsunami, and also working with the likes of Wretch 32, G FrsH, Stylo G and Gunna Dee, among others, but her contributions to the UK urban music landscape, go as far back as working with Giggs on his classic debut album Walk In Da Park.
As the South London singer-songwriter and Italia Conti Academy alumni puts the finishing touches to her sophomore EP, which will be released in December, and following on from the success of her previous two singles, the BBC 1Xtra supported ‘In My Feelings’ and the massive ‘Teyana’ featuring Big Tobz, which was premiered by GRM Daily, Chelsi Lauren has just released an exciting new offering, the Dancehall-tinged ‘NO OTHER’ to round off the summer.
Produced by the Markus Myrie (Markus Records), who has previously worked with Popcaan, Kranium and Mavado, among others, ‘No Other’ is a sultry slow burning R&B offering with lush dancehall sensibilities, which sees Chelsi Lauren showing off her enchanting and effortless vocals and relatable songwriting dexterity, over a minimalist bedroom drums-led musical backdrop, as she waxes lyrical about that one special person that gives you everything you need.
