LONDON – Christie’s Jewels & Handbags Online: The London Edit from 9 to 23 June will present a curated selection of fine antique jewels, bold contemporary designs and renowned jewellers including Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Garrard, Tiffany & Co. and Buccellati, alongside over 150 handbags, accessories and lifestyle items from designers including Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Fendi. The pieces will be on view at Christie’s London from 11 to 16 June, and will coincide with Christie’s Private Sales selling exhibition, The Colours of Summer, presenting collectors with the very best in coloured gemstones.

Highlights of the auction include a group of three graduated natural saltwater pearl necklaces, formerly in the collection of Lady Ludlow and thence by descent to the late Duchess of Abercorn (estimate: £175,000-200,000), a comprehensive parure of  ‘Passe Partout’ jewels by Van Cleef & Arpels (estimate: £60,000–90,000), an impressive sugarloaf cabochon sapphire and diamond brooch by Cartier that may be transformed into a bracelet (estimate: £80,000-120,000), a pair of Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Mystery Set’ sapphire and diamond foliate ear clips (estimate: £60,000–80,000), a collection of rings and earrings by Buccellati, and an exquisite late Victorian black opal and diamond brooch displaying the characteristic harlequin play of colours associated with the Lightning Ridge mine in Australia (estimate: £12,000–18,000).

Making its auction debut at Christie’s will be an exceptional Hermès Shiny Bleu Électrique Mini Constance 18 with 18k white gold and diamond hardware (estimate: £70,000–90,000), featuring over 8.5 carats of pave set brilliant diamonds, and an Hermès Limited Edition Marble Silk Constance 24 (estimate: £8,000-10,000). Leading lots of the sale include the Hermès Shiny Marron Foncé Birkin 35 with 18k gold and diamond hardware (estimate: £120,000–150,000) and the rare Hermès Bleu Marine Faubourg Birkin 20 (estimate: £60,000–80,000). Also represented are handbags, accessories and trunks from brands including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Fendi.

THE COLOURS OF SUMMER | SELLING EXHIBITION

Christie’s Private Sales will present The Colours of Summer, a selling exhibition celebrating the beauty of vibrant pink, blue, green and red gemstones, on view at Christie’s King Street alongside The London Edit auction. From the deep green of a Colombian emerald to a sweet pink of an unheated Burmese spinel, these covetable gems are natural wonders that enchant us with their beauty. Leading the exhibition is a spectacular necklace and pair of earrings by Bulgari set with over 300 carats of lustrous sapphires and emeralds. From a private collection and fresh to the market, these jewels are iconic of this prestigious Roman jeweller. Featured alongside these pieces is a curated selection of beautiful and rare coloured gemstones, colourless diamonds as well as signed collectable jewels from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co. and many more.
