He.She.They comes to Ministry of Sound

Our lips are no longer sealed and the secret is out! It feels good to finally be able to blab and reveal our full line-up for He.She.They.’s debut!
    He.She.They

London’s new enfant terrible; He.She.They. will be casting it’s weird and wonderful control over all 4 rooms at Ministry. Our event headliner – Maya Jane Coles – is fresh from releasing her award-winning sophomore album ‘Take Flight’, touring globally and even taking the time to remix and support Depeche Mode on tour! Maya truly embodies all the things we look for in a talented artist. She is a resolutely independent, multi-disciplinary creative powerhouse. An artist who writes, produces, mixes, engineers and performs all of her own music. She even creates the artwork. Somehow she still finds time to run her own label I/AM/ME too!

Maya is joined in The Box by BPitch founder & one of our favourite DJs of all time, Ellen Allien. Like Maya, Ellen is a total creative all-rounder: DJ, musician, fashion house, label manager; Ellen is famed for her eclectic, genre-defying sets, a discography of critically-acclaimed albums and for pioneering the evolution of electronic music both in her native Germany and worldwide. Our number one Berliner is our gift to your ears and your feet.

     He.She.They
After impressing us with diverse sets at both DC10 and Rex in 2017, we pretty much begged electronic music royalty Satoshi Tomiie to open-up the main room for us. From his legendary track with Frankie Knuckles, ‘Tears’, to his output on Kaoz Theory, No19, Holic, Yoyaku and his own Abstract Architecture – if you don’t know, then get to know! Trust us, your life will be that little more enriched for doing so.

Finally, rounding-off the main room is the very first Wax Wings/Warboy B2B set. For reading, check-out Wax Wings’ new EP ‘Grave Dance ‘and Warboy’s ‘Rebel Herd’.

Joining Hyperdub’s Scratcha DVA in 103 room are Swamp 81 favourite Mickey Pearce, London’s techno twosome Maze & Masters, and our very Special Guest: KDA! Few breakthrough artists manage to conquer the charts yet remain a darling of the underground. His new track ‘Hate Me’ resonates with our philosophy very much.

The Menendez Brothers bring London’s finest Hip-Hop night, So Fresh So Clean, to proceedings. They take-over Room 3, headlined by Barely Legal with additional support coming courtesy of Rinse FM’s Emerald.

The Baby Box is hosted by Travesty! And plays host to Jonathan Bestley’s Birthday. Joining the celebrations are DJ and stylist to the stars Alexis Knox and newcomers Zyon.

If that all wasn’t enough for you; we’ve got our favourite dance troupe: Little Gay Brother, who’ll be channelling their inner goth for the night. From attire to dance moves, these kids push the envelope and 8 of the family’s finest will be showing us how it’s done!

So, why He.She.They.? Well… can you remember when dance music culture was all about breaking down barriers, rather than building them? When it didn’t matter who you were just as long as you were friendly and you could be yourself? Well we feel it’s high time to return to those inclusive, ideological roots. From DJs to performers, we’re about giving those who push boundaries a platform, and we invite our partygoers to push their own boundaries.

We want to create a sanctuary; a place without prejudice; where people can be people. To create a utopia where people feel they belong whilst expressing their utmost individuality. Where they can spread their creative wings and relinquish the shackles imposed by society, irrespective of age, race, sex, gender, ability, religion, background or their sexual preference. It’s a really simple ethos: have a good time whilst being respectful to others. If you bring a bad attitude, if your intolerances come to the surface, you will not be welcomed.

Let’s once again create memories and moments together. Moments with people we love, and new people we meet. Together – in a collective experience. So feel free to dress as normally or as outrageously as you want. From PVC, latex and leather boots, to your favourite LBD or pair of kicks. Experimentation is encouraged. Just remember, you only live once! We live by the mantra that’s it’s far better to regret the things you have done, than the things you haven’t!
