The Ecclestone Art competition is generously sponsored by Dame Emma Thompson, Zebra One Gallery, Cass Art Hampstead and Women in Art Fair.

Thompson said: “I am absolutely delighted to contribute towards this art prize and once again offer my support for this wonderful initiative to help the Arts and Women Artists in particular.

“This year is proving a difficult year for everyone and I hope that this prize will go some way to supporting women artists through this crisis. I look forward to seeing the winning entry late in the summer.”

The winner receives The Women in Art Fair Award; a £1,500 cash prize; their work will be displayed for one month at Hampstead’s Zebra One Gallery and they also receive a solo exhibition in the Art Space at Cass Art Islington.

Zebra One Gallery’s Managing Director, Gabrielle Du Plooy – who is also on the judging panel – added: “Women artists need our support – and that is even more pertinent now, during this pandemic.

“So I’m thrilled to be involved in this important initiative, nurturing the next big things and giving collectors the opportunity to invest in the the names of the future.”

A further 21 runners-up will take part in the Finalist Exhibition in the Peggy Jay Gallery at Burgh House, Hampstead, London from 22nd to 26th July 2020. The Second Prize is a cheque for £500 and the Third Prize is £250 in Cass Art Vouchers and the Ecclestone Art Prize for the Best Beginner of 2020

Entries close at Midnight on June 16 and if the Government have lifted coronovirus restrictions on public spaces, the exhibition and prize-giving will take place on July 22 at Burgh House.
