Today, singer-songwriter on the rise Debbii Dawson shares her latest single, “Walla Walla,” out now via RCA Records. Listen HERE.

DEBBII DAWSON RELEASES NEW SINGLE “WALLA WALLA”

Buoyed by a playful cadence of percussion and guitar strums, “Walla Walla” is a lighthearted and effervescent single that showcases Debbii’s stunning signature vocals and her penchant for whimsical storytelling.

“‘Walla Walla’ is for anyone who feels misunderstood or that they just never got the hang of something that seems to come naturally to everyone else,” says Debbii of the release. “Working with producer Zhone and co-writers Alida Peck and Emily Warren, it was a difficult but fun exercise for us to disregard language, a cornerstone of our skill set, as we figured out how to tell a story without words. I originally wanted the whole song to be nonsense, but we settled on just the chorus for storytelling purposes. I wanted to take this feeling of frustration and turn it into something that felt good and made people want to dance.”

The release of “Walla Walla” comes on the heels of her sophomore EP, How To Be Human, earlier this year. The project served as a five-track journey through the singer’s psyche, grappling with themes of finding comfort in self-isolation and fears of the unknown. Featuring the singles “Happy World” and “Turn The TV On,” How To Be Human is a sonic navigation through Debbii’s feelings of solitude and yearnings of escapism.

Debbii has also been on the road this year supporting artists like Suki Waterhouse and Orville Peck, the latter of which she also collaborated with on his Stampede duets album. Next year she will join Role Model for the North American leg of his ‘No Place Like Tour’ run, kicking off in Phoenix and culminating on in Seattle, with stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Brooklyn, and more along the way.
