LONDON — Fashion has long wrestled with the tension between the physical body and the elevated image. In her latest presentation, Omnia Vanitas, designer Tulasi Parmar turns that dialogue into a runway study on mortality, technology, and spiritual identity.
Drawing conceptual inspiration from Paolo Veronese’s Allegory of Wisdom and Strength—a masterpiece depicting heavenly wisdom ascending while Hercules anchors himself to earthly possessions—the collection examines the space between the temporary and the permanent. Through a contemporary lens, the TULASI brand balances physical garments with digital sensibilities, questioning what is mortal versus what can be constructed to appear eternal.
A Humanoid Debut on the Catwalk
The SS/AW27 show marked a major evolution for the luxury womenswear label. While AI and digital software have consistently informed Parmar’s creative process, this collection blurred the line between physical craftsmanship and machine intelligence more directly than ever before.
Rather than positioning technology as an abstract concept, TULASI uses virtual tools to challenge established norms surrounding garment production, drape, and the human form. The presentation culminated in a carefully staged final moment: the runway debut of a humanoid robot, designed to challenge perceptions of identity and presence on the modern catwalk.
The SS27 show was sponsored by INVERSA Leathers, with video production handled by Antarctica Media and robotics integration provided in partnership with Humanoid Robot Solutions.
Rooted in Heritage, Powered by Innovation
Founded and creatively directed by Tulasi Parmar, TULASI bridges traditional technique with next-generation digital design. Parmar’s work draws heavily on her Kenyan-Gujarati heritage alongside her experience growing up in the UK.
Her design journey began early, earning the title of Young Fashion Designer of the Year UK at age 16. She went on to study womenswear and digital fashion at Ravensbourne University London, graduating with First-Class Honours in 2024. Today, her studio practice integrates advanced software—including CLO 3D, Cinema 4D, and Unreal Engine—directly into the atelier workflow.
Sustainable practice remains central to the label’s operational framework. By utilizing AI and 3D modeling to prototype, fit, and refine fabric movement virtually, TULASI reduces the need for physical material sampling. Once designs are finalized, garments are manufactured on demand through in-house UK production facilities.
Industry Recognition and Growth
TULASI’s technical approach to luxury fashion has garnered significant institutional and industry support. The brand has received backing from organizations including The King’s Trust, HelpBnk, Fashion Minority Report, and JPMorganChase. Parmar has also delivered a keynote address on technology and design at the University of Oxford’s AI Frontier Forum.
