Monday 18th March, 2019: Today, Alison Hammond, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were amongst thousands of commuters at one of the busiest tube stations in London.
Never one to shy away from new experiences, the hilarious Alison Hammond went from TV presenter to bossy prison guard as she locked up her This Morning co-star Eamonn Holmes in a jail cell. Meanwhile Ruth Langsford – who was more intrigued to fight injustice – was spotted amongst a group of furious protestors declaring his ‘innocence.’
The This Morning colleagues joined thousands of commuters and tourists inside Tottenham Court Road station during this morning’s rush hour, to relive the injustice that’s seen at the heart of UNIVERSAL TV’s gripping, new drama: Proven Innocent.
Starring Kelsey Grammer, and premiering on UNIVERSAL TV tonight at 9pm, Proven Innocent follows an underdog criminal defence firm led by a fierce and uncompromising lawyer, played by Rachelle Lefevre, who at the age of 18 was wrongfully convicted. However, her bold and bullish tactics earn her a number of enemies – especially Gore Bellows, played by Emmy Award and Golden Globe-winner Grammer the prosecutor who initially put her away and still believes in her guilt.
Today, Hammond, Langsford and Holmes took turns to experience different roles inspired by the show. From cell-mate to wrongfully convicted protestors, and were joined by members of the public to interact with actors playing out immersive scenes mirroring the storyline of the tense drama. Londoners and tourists were also delighted to hear the iconic voice of Kelsey Grammer over the tannoy at Tottenham Court Road station.
Alison Hammond said “I’ve had many random experiences in my career, but I never expected I’d get the opportunity to lock up my friends and run away with the key! Being inside the cell was another story though, even after just a few minutes I wanted out. Still managed to grab a ‘cell-fie though’.”
