1. What motivated you to change your way of life?

Marko: My health was the biggest motivation for me because I was really obese with more than 100 kg and had hypothyroidism. I always felt tired and dejected. Despite the medication for my thyroid I still had weight issues. My eating habits were terrible and I decided to change my life and start eating healthy and working out. The moment I realized how good it made me feel I fell in love with this lifestyle!

Valentina: Fitness and training was always part of my life since I was playing all kinds of sports through my childhood. I knew how great it made me feel, but I had another issue – food. I tried to solve my problems with eating unhealthy food and sweets. I would eat even when I wasn’t hungry, desperately trying to fill that emptiness I felt inside. Of course, all that food made me feel even worse about myself and all that effort I made with my training was in vain. I was tired of giving so much effort and not having the results I wanted. So finally I managed to have control over my food choices and when I saw how much it affected the quality of my life I promised to myself I would never do that to myself again!

2. Who was your greatest support? Have you been judged by people because you eat healthy food?

Marko: The greatest support I have are everybody who follows me on our social media. The kind messages and comment I get is my motivation. On the other hand, being judged and criticized by others is just something everybody experiences so I don’t take it personally. Not everybody will agree with everything you do, and that’s ok as long as they say it a decent way!

Valentina: I will agree with Marko, and also add our sponsors Proteka who saw great potential in our work and decided to work with us. Having such strong supplements company means so much to us! Many people will judge you, especially at the beginning but in the end, those same people will ask you how you did it. Just don’t take it to heart and do what you love and think is the best for you!

3. You have achieved enviable results after years of healthy and active life. You are become motivation to other people because of your willpower, the knowledge of the exercise and the diet. How do you feel about it?

Marko: I wanted to share my story and help others to achieve their goals. I succeeded in my plan and each person whose life is changed and improved because of that is my reward!

Valentina: The best feeling in the world is when you help and motivate somebody to make that positive change in their life’s and feel good about themselves. We often forget that the key to a happy life is loving yourself first and sometimes we all need a reminder for that.

4. How’re you feel first time on Bodybuilding stage? What would people have to know about the participation in the bodybuilding competition?

Marko: First time on bodybuilding stage was really exciting, but the real fun for me was the whole process of preparation for the stage. Seeing all the changes in your body is what I find interesting and to overcome the next question, you have to love and enjoy the process and whole preparations for competition to really enjoy the stage.

Valentina: My first competition was such a wonderful experience and I will always remember it with a smile. But I would agree with Marko, the whole process of competition preparations is the interesting part. You really get to know your body and learn to listen what it needs. Sparkling bikinis, hair and makeup are just cherries on top of the cake. If you want to participate you have to love all the work behind that what you see on stage!

5. What is the most common fear and misapprehension among people who first time enter the gym?

Marko: There are many fears and misapprehensions, but the most common would be not knowing how to use machines and doing workouts properly. Also, people think working out in the gym is boring, but if you know what you are doing your training doesn’t have to be boring! There are so many ways to spice up your workout and that is also why we put our training videos on social media.

Valentina: Girls are mostly afraid of putting to much muscle, not knowing how to use machines or having the feeling they are being watched by others. To calm you down, because of our hormones we can’t build our muscle like guys can. By working out with weights you will get that toned body we all want! Also, nobody is watching you or will laugh at you because everybody is there for the same reason and that is to be the best version of themselves!

6. What are the main benefits of working with a personal trainer?

Marko: Main benefits of working out with the personal trainer are being sure you are doing movements correctly and having somebody to push you to do your best for optimal results!

Valentina: I will also add that many people take personal trainer because they can’t make themselves to go workout if they don’t make an agreement with their trainer. This is the way they are assured they will do their training.

7. How do you feel when you see the first results on a client? Is it easier for women or men in the transformation process?

Marko: It’s so amazing seeing how small changes in food choices and adding physical activity can affect not just appearance but your mood and energy levels. Results of my clients are the proof of that and to see such positive change over and over again is breathtaking! Men and woman are equal when it comes to the transformation process.

Valentina: Seeing results on the client is always the best part and I’m happy for them as I am for my own result. It’s amazing to see that smile on their face and knowing you helped them reach their goals. I would also say it’s the same for both men and women in the transformation process.

8. How many times is a week optimal to train?

Marko: It depends on your current shape and goals, but I would say 3-4 times a week is optimal!

Valentina: You don’t have to train every day to have your results. Often with our jobs, children and other obligations, we don’t have time for anything else but having your meals correctly and training 3-4 times a week will do the job!

9. Only the most daring people continue their transformation process. Why do people give up on their goals? What advice do you give to those people who want to change their lives without much effort?

Marko: If you give up, then it’s not that important to you. If you want something your will and motivation must be bigger than your excuses.

Valentina: We all have a choice and it’s on us what we will do with the opportunity we get each day. If something matters, you will find the time and a way to get it done. If not, you will find an excuse.

10. Do you have any other plans or you are satisfied with the achievements?

Marko: I’m very satisfied with what I have done, but of course, I have ambitions for more. I’m planning to enter another university and expand my knowledge. After all, life gives us so many opportunities and with so much time on our hands and it would be ashamed if we didn’t do our best!

Valentina: I think that key to success is being happy with what you have done, but always wanting to improve and learn more. So I do have much more plans for my future, but I’m taking it step by step and enjoying every moment life gives us!

11. Many people in the fitness world have similar goals, but everyone in their own way enjoys cheat meal. Someone orders a pizza, someone eats a big portion of ice cream while others make their favourite cake. What is your way?

Marko: My favourite cheat meal is definitely all kinds of good steaks and after that ice-cream or chocolate cake!

Valentina: I love to explore new food places and flavours, but I do have a real sweet tooth. So my favourite would have to be cheesecake or ice-cream!

12. The recipes from your cookery book are known for being tasty, quick to prepare and wonderful service. Can you pick one of your favourite recipes and share it with all of us?

Marko: I enjoy all of them and can’t really pick my favourite.
Valentina: I would have to choose strawberry cheesecake!
