Recently awarded ‘UK’s best new festival’ status at the UK Festival Awards, Timber announces its full line-up featuring artists and performers from across the arts spectrum as part of a three-day programme of activities and wellbeing focused events.
Timber takes place July 5-7 2019 in the National Forest at Feanedock, a 70acre woodland site in the Midlands.
Gwenno, Hannah Peel, You Tell Me (Field Music’s offshoot project), Stealing Sheep, Eşya (a new solo project from Ayşe Hassan of Savages), Sub Pop artist Jesca Hoop, Stuart Maconie, Laura Barton, Phill Jupitus, Peter Owen-Jones, Elizabeth Alker (6Music and BBC Radio 3), Another Sky, Yama Warashi, performance poet Sophia Thakur and author Luke Harding will all appear across the festival site in the heart of The National Forest.
Timber is a festival of music, arts and ideas connecting people with nature. Now in its second year, this year’s festival develops this ethos with many of the artists exploring the relationship between art, language and landscapes both real and imagined.
Welsh musician Gwenno will be performing live as well as joining Radio 4 producer Geoff Bird for a rare ‘in conversation’ to discuss landscape and minority languages. Author and BBC 6Music presenter Stuart Maconie will be talking about his book The Long Road From Jarrow. Electronic musician and composer Hannah Peel, who has just a released an album with poet Will Burns on Rivertones called Chalk Hill Blue, will perform live. Hybrid electronic rock outfit Another Sky, who played to great acclaim on Later with Jools Holland last year, will also be appearing.
Liverpool electro-pop band Stealing Sheep will be performing and other live music will include American singer-songwriter Jesca Hoop. Her 6th album for Sub Pop Records, was released to rave reviews backed up by her dynamic live band performances.
Peter Brewis has been honing the craft of pop songwriting for almost fifteen years as one half of band Field Music. Sarah Hayes joins him in this new venture You Tell Me and they will be performing music from their self-titled debut album.
Besides an exciting three-day programme of music and arts, Timber offers festival goers the chance to connect with nature with a series of talks, walks and a carefully curated food and drink offer.
