Trade in your sofas and Terry’s Chocolate Oranges in the week leading up to Christmas for popcorn, snow and a festive screening in the iconic Pop Up Screens’ Christmas grotto

    Pop Up Screens (1)

The Legendary Pop Up Screens that have been spreading festive spirit in the form of classic Christmas movies and snow indoors since 8th December is entering its final week of opening, and will end with an Elfie flourish on Christmas Eve. Hackney Showroom in East London has been transformed into a Narnia inspired winter wonderland. Doors are done away with, instead, the audience enters the fir tree forest from a wardrobe stocked with fur coats. Who needs the Alps when the Pop Up Screens forest is complete with snow falling from the sky, atmospheric lighting and the smell of sandalwood?

‘It’s too late to get tickets!’ I hear you say ‘all of the best movies are sold out!’ Oh no my friends, the best is yet to come and the last few tickets are waiting to be claimed. Home Alone, Elf, Love Actually and The Muppet Christmas Carol is on the cards during the last few days of screenings. These classics were well as The Santa Clause, Miracle on 34th Street, Arthur Christmas and much more are screening in the afternoon and evening to ensure that kids can get in on the fun.

Audiences will, of course, find popcorn from Drum and Kernel, as well as handmade brownies, craft beer, pimped hot chocolate and lovely festive mulled wine (It’d be rude not to). Pop Up Screens founder David Leydon said: “Christmas is our chance to do something special and to build an experience for our audience.  When you were 5, you wanted to climb into your wardrobe and find something amazing at the back of it – now you finally can!”
