Los Angeles, CA – April 7, 2025 – Legendary street artist GREY (Jonas Melvin) is making his long-awaited return to the public art scene with PINK CLOUD, a bold new exhibition opening April 18 at BEYOND THE STREETS in Los Angeles. This marks GREY’s first solo show in L.A. and his reemergence after nearly a decade marked by personal chaos, addiction, and recovery.

Presented in collaboration with art institution BEYOND THE STREETS, PINK CLOUD features a powerful mix of installations, paintings, and sculptures. The show includes work by a stellar lineup of artists including Alexis Ross, Alicia McCarthy, Barry McGee, Cheryl Dunn, Stephen ESPO Powers, Todd James, and many others.

GREY, who rose to prominence in the late ‘90s as part of San Francisco’s underground graffiti and skateboarding scene, is known for a distinctive style that has influenced generations of street artists worldwide. Despite global acclaim and collaborations with icons like Barry McGee, GREY vanished at the height of his career. After years of struggle, including addiction and homelessness, he is now nearly two years sober and channeling his experiences into a new creative chapter.

The exhibition’s title, PINK CLOUD, is a nod to the early phase of sobriety marked by optimism and clarity—feelings GREY now embraces. “I wanted to show the beauty that came from the pain,” said GREY. “This work is about contrast—light and dark, struggle and hope.”

Proceeds from the show will benefit Feed The Streets, a nonprofit providing meals, clothing, and hygiene essentials to Los Angeles’ unhoused and food-insecure communities. “GREY’s story reflects the very people we serve,” said FTS Co-Founder Danny Khorunzhiy. “To support his healing through art is an honor.”

Art collector and Collaborative Fund founder Craig Shapiro, a longtime admirer of GREY’s work, is also supporting the exhibition. “I’ve followed GREY’s influence since the ‘90s,” said Shapiro. “This show, and the mission behind it, is deeply meaningful.”

PINK CLOUD opens April 18, 2025, with a public reception from 6–9 PM, and runs through June 7, 2025, at BEYOND THE STREETS, 434 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 11 AM to 6 PM.
