Hancock x Harti: Where Fashion Meets Art

The Hancock x Harti collection blends two centuries of craftsmanship with contemporary artistic vision, redefining what outerwear can be. With a shared commitment to excellence and creative expression, these coats are a masterpiece in every stitch. The coats are RRP £1500 and come in a limited edition series of just 100 of each of the Trench Coat and Parka.

Each product comes with a certificate signed by Harti.

The unisex coats are available in sizes Small to XXXL and are made to order, ensuring a truly bespoke experience. Given the bespoke process, lead times are 4-6 weeks from receipt of order. To order online at HartiSWIM.com.

With the weather forecast predicting more rain than we know what to do with, it’s certainly the season for a Hancock x Harti trench coat! Get yours before the puddles get any deeper.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship Meets Creative Expression

Hancock’s reputation for exceptional craftsmanship is rooted in a tradition of luxury rainwear that dates back over a century, inspired by the heritage of Mackintosh coats, a pioneer in waterproof rainwear. Known for their clean lines and minimal detailing, Hancock coats are crafted from high-quality materials like vulcanized rubberized cloth, wool flannel, and silk.

A key highlight of the collection is the Iconic Hancock Trench – designed, sourced, and handcrafted in Scotland. Expert coat-makers use their index fingers to smear a rubber solution on all seams and hemlines, ensuring complete waterproofing, and stitch only at key stress points for reinforcement. The result is a coat that is truly made by hand, offering both function and artistry.

The Iconic Hancock Trench – a timeless design combining classic tailoring with modern innovation – serves as a lifetime investment piece and wardrobe staple. Featuring a flattering unisex cut, it complements any figure while offering exceptional durability. This trench, like all Hancock creations, comes with a lifetime repair service, reducing waste and promoting sustainability by extending the life of each piece.

In the collaboration with Harti, the trench coat’s traditional design is elevated with the artist’s bold pop art, transforming it into a statement of both craftsmanship and creative expression.

The collaboration injects Hancock’s rich heritage with modern flair, infusing each coat’s silk lining with Harti’s signature, vibrant pop art paintings. Only 100 coats are produced each month at Hancock’s Scottish factory, ensuring exclusivity and artisanal mastery in every piece.

“The collaboration with Harti is about more than just fashion,” says Scottish entrepreneur Nadia Alexander, owner of Hancock of Scotland. “It’s about creating something truly unique, where craftsmanship meets creative expression. Each coat tells a story. It’s not just outerwear; it’s a statement.”

Tessa Hartmann CBE: The Vision Behind Harti’s Expansion

Harti’s creative direction is led by Tessa Hartmann CBE, Sascha Hartmann’s wife and the driving force behind the expansion of the Harti brand. Tessa, who has a long history in the fashion and design industries, was the visionary behind the idea to extend the brand into new categories.

In 2022, she launched HartiSWIM to great success, a sustainable swimwear collection made from recycled ocean plastic. In fact, each swimsuit is made from 13.1 plastic bottles, a certified figure that demonstrates the brand’s commitment to eco-conscious fashion.

Tessa’s creativity extends beyond fashion. She has collaborated with renowned interior designer Andrew Martin on a series of Harti Cushions and launched a luxury furniture line last year. Her passion for bringing Sascha’s bold pop art to life across different products is evident in her work.

“We have a veritable treasure trove of Sascha’s original paintings – more than we know what to do with. But for me, it’s not just about hoarding art; it’s about making it wearable, turning it into something you can live with, carry with you, and perhaps even get caught in the rain wearing. I’ve always been taken with the audacity of 90s Moschino – those cheeky, irreverent collections that made fashion feel like an act of defiance. And now, here we are, living the dream in a riot of bold, statement pop art that makes you feel alive. Honestly, I can’t quite believe how many of these coats we’ve sold – people are snapping them up faster than we can post them on Instagram. There’s something wonderfully mad about that.”

    About Harti Art

Harti is one of the most exciting new talents in contemporary art, known for his large-scale acrylic on canvas works that explore themes of psychology, philosophy, and human nature.

With a background in clinical neuropsychology and a passion for composition, Harti’s interdisciplinary approach to art challenges the viewer to reconsider how they interact with the world.

His work has been showcased internationally, including at the Saatchi Gallery in London, and exhibitions in Venice and Seoul.

“Fashion has always been a medium for self-expression, but this collaboration takes it a step further,” says Harti, the pop artist behind the vibrant designs. “Each coat is a piece of art that invites conversation. It’s not about blending in – it’s about standing out and making your voice heard.”
