Kit Harrington, mega famous for Game of Thrones, throw his weight behind Henry V in a new production that showcases his on-stage talents.
Shakespeare’s play is a true test to any acting ability, and Harrington hits the marks and notes to a great degree. Playing King Henry V of England, and surrounded by a worthy cast of 13 other actors, Henry V is very heavy and very deep, as you would know, and deals with wars and battle and death and a whole lot more. Set within the confines of the small stage within the Donmar Warehouse in Covent Garden, this production is literally an in your face production that pulls all the stops to get you imbedded with the action on stage.
The last production as Donmar, Force Majeur, turned the stage into a ski slope (with actual skiers skiing across the stage). Well in Henry V we get battles, courtroom drama, and a hanging that ends part one in very dramatic (and perhaps horrifying) style. Booms and flashes of light will disorient you from time to time as every seat in the theatre is no further than a few feet from the stage, and you might not be able to see some of the actors on stage if you are in the balcony. If all that is too much for you to take in, then leave it. But for those who like to feel that they are part of the show and part of the action, and for those die hard Kit Harrington fans, then this show is for you.
