The nation’s craftiest fundraiser is returning for Christmas and will raise vital funds for mental health services

On November 30, you can craft your way into the Christmas spirit whilst raising funds for a fantastic cause, by taking part in Mind’s winter Crafternoon event.

Mind’s Christmas Crafternoon will see thousands come together to stick, sew and stitch in festive craft fundraisers in support of the one in four of us who experience a mental health problem each year.

There’s no need to be an experienced crafter to take part, all you need to do is get out your decorations, stick on the Christmas tunes and invite your favourite people over for a cosy afternoon of crafting.

The simplest way to raise money through your Christmas Crafternoon event is to set a suggested donation for all those who attend. You could even raise further funds by selling mince pies or putting on a raffle alongside your crafting activities.

Whether you use your event as an opportunity to create Christmas cards, DIY decorations, or homemade presents for your loved ones – by raising funds for Mind, you’ll be helping to make sure that no-one has to face a mental health problem alone.

Head of Community & Events Fundraising at Mind, Karen Bolton, said: “Our Christmas Crafternoon is an incredibly fun way to kick off the festive season and it helps to fund essential services such as our online community, which provides a safe space in which people can share their experiences around mental health.

We’re so grateful to those who have taken part in the fundraiser so far and we can’t wait to see what people get up to for this year’s Christmas Crafternoon. Every event hosted makes such a difference.”

Mind are encouraging supporters to take part in Crafternoon on November 30. But if you’re busy that day there’s no need to worry – you can host your event whenever suits you during the festive period and the Mind fundraising team will be on hand to support with ideas and information.

Stuck on what to make? If you need a bit of inspiration you can head to Mind’s website where you’ll find recipes and templates for craft activities such as DIY Christmas crackers and hand stitched Christmas cards. No matter what you make, by taking part you’ll be helping Mind to provide life-saving services and information for people in their time of need.
