It’s the extension of the collab with French artist Livia Dudouit. The project started last year during lockdown by the support of Alliance Francis de Bengal where designer Abhishek Dutta and visual artist Livia Dudouit collaborated to create a collection with the latter’s artwork.

The showcase of this collection happened in Kolkata, India early this year and got a standing ovation.

This collaboration took a step forward where Livia actually did a showcasing at the Paris, Moulin Fidel gallery where the whole project as well as the garments and photographs and the fashion video got showcased. The opening of the exhibit was on 2nd October in presence of senator Hauts -de-Seine, mayor and deputy mayor for culture and will continue till 10th October. This interesting collaboration took the brand to Paris in spite of all the hurdles from the pandemic.

The initial plan was to do a proper runway which had to be sacrificed due to covid restrictions. But we definitely want to take the collaboration ahead for next season and do it in a much bigger way. The craftsmanship for creating this collection was a tedious and lengthy process but the outcome was amazingly beautiful…and actually accepted globally. This unique collaboration which highlights the architecture of both the countries in terms of artform builds a bridge also to promote talents from different countries.

Livia’s quote: This exhibition is very important for me because it is the first time that the project with Abhishek Dutta is presented in France. The public appreciated it very much and found the dress on display very original. I was lucky enough to be able to talk to the senator of Hauts-de-Seine, Mr Philippe Pemezec, the deputy mayor in charge of culture, Mrs Béatrice Robin, and the mayor, Mr Jacques Perrin, who found my graphic motifs and their transpositions onto a collection of clothes very interesting.
