MACAO, SAR (October 19, 2017): La Perla hosted its Spring/Summer 2018 ready-to-wear fashion show in a lavish 200 person gala dinner and runway presentation in Macao, SAR at 8pm, local time. In partnership with The Venetian Macao as part of Sands Macao Fashion week, La Perla presented a full-scale runway presentation, featuring 70 looks comprised of the brand’s ready-to-wear and haute couture collections. Top runway models including Natasha Poly and Liu Wen walked the show along with local talent while seated guests including Fan Bingbing and Hu Bing enjoyed a gala dinner at the Grand Colonnade in The Venetian Macao.

“I am excited to bring the Spring/Summer 2018 collection to this beautiful and exotic destination. As we continue to build ‘the World of La Perla,’ through the introduction of ready-to-wear, haute couture, shoes, and accessories, I am honored to bring La Perla to this global destination for fashion and luxury,” noted Julia Haart.  “We are a fashion house with many homes, and no borders.”

For La Perla’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection, Creative Director Julia Haart explored the juxtaposing properties that exist in stones: the resilient and fragile, fixed and fluid, matter and motion. Inspired by their formation, she finds beauty in the incongruity of their rough, immutable surfaces and the stunning veins and fluid markings found layered beneath.

Haart takes this exploration of opposites to find a greater understanding of femininity. Referencing La Perla’s 60-year-old heritage, there have been numerous incarnations of the female muse and this collection underscores the significance of this evolution.  Prints play an important role and the archives of La Perla’s founder Ada Masotti were the starting point for fresh ideas.

The Spring/Summer 2018 collection embraces the idea of fluidity in motion. “Things that stand still don’t evolve,” explains Haart. “This collection shows that our conception of humanity needn’t be static, even for all that makes it immutable and timeless, change is the only way forward.”
