A Leeds-based designer and manufacturer of luxury headwear has been shortlisted for a duo of export awards, as well as a Northern Power Women Award in 2019.
Established in 2013, Kempadoo Millar has been named a finalist in the Micro Exporter of the Year category at the PD Ports Northern Powerhouse Export Awards and the International Trade category at the Business Desk’s Business Master’s Awards.
Returning for its third year to recognise the North’s top exporters and celebrate achievements in international trade, the PD Ports Northern Powerhouse Export Awards is organised in association with HSBC, Department for International Trade (DIT) and Chamber International.
The Business Desk’s annual Masters Awards attracts key influencers, decision makers, business owners and senior managers from a wide range of high-profile companies and business sectors across the region. In its ninth year, the event will recognise the achievements of firms of all sizes across the region.
Founder, Rhian Kempadoo-Millar will also join eight other finalists, who have been shortlisted in the Outstanding Entrepreneur category, at this year’s Northern Power Women awards.
The fourth Northern Power Women Awards will take place on 18 March 2019 in a glittering evening ceremony at Manchester Central Convention Complex. The awards seek to celebrate the many different ways women contribute to a thriving Northern Powerhouse.
Kempadoo-Millar creates a range of vibrant flat-caps from locally sourced Yorkshire fabrics, all 100% manufactured within the region. The brand has sold in 28 countries worldwide, in a diverse range of countries from Belgium to Burma. Outside the UK, the US is the brand’s largest growing market.
Kempadoo Millar flat-caps have been worn by British actor, Idris Elba and heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua alongside many well-known DJ’s, musicians and sportspeople.
