In the Zaha Hadid Maritime Station, the designer Michele Miglionico unveils the outfit dedicated to women’s fashion for the Muslim world.

The designer Michele Miglionico was a guest at the third edition of the Edshow, the first Italian show dedicated to fashion for cocktails, for the evening and for muslim wear, held in the Zaha Hadid Maritime Station in Salerno.

An event that has focused heavily on modest fashion or a fashion dedicated to Middle Eastern women with a Western flavor and at the same time respectful of Muslim traditions

Michele Miglionico presented a muslim outfit consisting of a large cloak in black silk brocade that acts as an abaya (a robe, usually black, which covers the whole body except the face, feet and hands) worn over a viscose pullover and lycra and a long pleated silk skirt. On the head a hijab (the veil to cover the head).

For this occasion Michele Miglionico has created a black viscose and lycra pullover with the slogan “Freedom for Afghan Women” on the front.

A couture-manifesto in support of the rights denied to Afghan women.

The designer’s desire is to invite the whole fashion system to reflect and make their voices heard in support of the rights of Afghan women who in this historical moment, with the new Taliban government, are no longer guaranteed.

The pullover designed by Michele Miglionico was made by the Lucanian knitwear factory Denì Service di Donato Cirella, a leading company specializing in textile writing and portraying on knitwear.

The third edition of the Edshow was organized by IFTA (Independent Fashion Talent Association), with the collaboration and support of Ice – Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation , of the Campania Region, the Municipality and Chamber of Commerce of Salerno.

The journalist Michela Zio (talent-scout and artistic director of the event) has selected 61 brands in the eight Southern Italian Regions (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia and Sicily)

The event saw the presence of 100 Italian buyers and distributors and 40 foreign operators.
