London – Saturday 16th February, 2019 – The iconic English singer, songwriter and film producer, Mick Jagger – born in Dartford, Kent in 1943 has been described as “one of the most popular and influential frontmen in history”. From the time that the Rolling Stones developed their anti-establishment image, Mick Jagger had often been portrayed as an enduring countercultural figure.

“With an instantly recognisable style, his experimental looks and flamboyance on stage helped to truly reshape what is meant by masculinity in fashion” explains GIANCOHANDMADE designer Giuseppe Iaciofano, who drew inspiration from this ‘breaking boundaries of gender’ in fashion for his Autumn/Winter 19-20 collection Nuda.

Jagger’s legendary boldness and aesthetics of both masculine and feminine styles form the main reference points for Nuda. The spirit of rebellion which embodies an androgynous silhouette favours soft flowing velvet which appear in the collection and are used in opposition to thick fabrics and strong geometric lines thus lending to the countercultural diversity of a rebel.

Society can be unyielding and can cause people to lose their way and become lost. With such uncompromising rules about what a man/woman should wear imposes a negative visceral emotional reaction for those who identify as under-gender. “Identifying as under-gender is when an individual has no connection to the mainstream and so finds their own way to reconnect with who they truly are, through fashion.”

Nuda boldly yet sensitively makes a transverse connection between these ideologies and unites them, making this one of the stylistic codes of the collection. It is well known that Giuseppe Iaciofano’s fashion has been repeatedly framed as a cultured reworking of the aesthetic disorder of our era. For him there are no schemes to follow, his recipe for going beyond the standards are the dialogue between the opposites.

Pegasus Street Artist has created the artwork for the presentations limited edition gift bags which carry the GIANCOHANDMADE logo along with Pegasus’ tag making these a unique piece of artwork only available at the presentation.
