Chancel Soumah, widely known as Princess Channi and crowned Miss Pride of Africa UK 2022–23, has officially been named the Cultural Style Week Brand Ambassador representing Guinea and the Republic of the Congo.
Her debut as ambassador launches in spectacular fashion with a feature in the ‘My Cultural Style 2025’ campaign and London exhibition displayed at The Mall Wood Green, two exclusive Cultural Style Week fashion videos, and a spotlight in the international 2025 Cultural Style Week campaign video.
Chancel’s participation celebrates her dual heritage from Guinea and the Republic of the Congo, brought to life through powerful storytelling, fashion, and cultural identity. Alongside her feature in the My Cultural Style 2025 campaign and London exhibition displayed at The Mall Wood Green, she appears in two captivating style videos, each presenting a culturally inspired outfit accompanied by a personal reflection that honours her roots.
As a proud representative of Francophone West and Central Africa, Chancel brings a distinctive voice to the campaign—one that amplifies African elegance, heritage, and diversity.
Her Guinean ensemble features a majestic, flowing blue Boubou made of Bazin—a symbol of elegance and tradition in Francophone West Africa.
Her Congolese look merges cultural pride with modern fashion, accented by statement accessories and personal touches.
“Taking part in Cultural Style Week is a true honour. As someone of both Guinean and Congolese heritage, being able to represent the richness of my cultures fills me with pride and purpose. It’s a special week that truly brightens your days with colour—a time to saturate your five senses with culture through clothing, music, food, and dance, and to celebrate the beauty of diversity.” – Chancel Soumah
Held annually from 21–27 May, Cultural Style Week invites people worldwide to celebrate their heritage through fashion, aligning with the United Nations World Day for Cultural Diversity. Participants join by wearing cultural attire, sharing their stories, and using the hashtag #culturalstyleweek.
As a brand ambassador, Chancel joins a global roster of changemakers using style as a tool for connection and cultural expression. She is the founder of La Guinéolese, a platform dedicated to preserving and amplifying the cultural traditions of Francophone West and Central Africa. She also serves as an ambassador for A.J.C.A., and is a mentor and role model to youth across the African diaspora.
“Chancel is the embodiment of cultural pride and purpose,” says Candy-Ellie Graham, founder of Cultural Style Week. “Her presence in this campaign is magnetic—she doesn’t just wear her heritage; she lives and breathes it. Appointing her as a Cultural Style Week ambassador is a proud moment for all of us.”
