Morpheus Project, a prog collective bought together by the multi-talented creative Mustafa Khetty, return with the hard hitting diatribe ‘Steal For What?’(July 19th). LISTEN HERE

A unique, rich and boundary defying prog project full of passion and musical complexity, Morpheus Project brings together virtuoso musicians and boundaryless songwriting to create unique, restlessly creative prog. From moments of explosive rock, to other of more considered, intricate musicianship with multicultural influences and instrumentation, the band showcase the full width of their talents across the upcoming 7 track release ‘On The Edge’ (Aug 16th).

The new single ‘Steal For What’ is an emotionally charged, lyrically explosive commentary on the mass corruption, and wealth inequality which grips the world, whilst also delivering a biting analysis of the people at its core. Musically rich with the multifaceted instrumentation and complex melodies which the band have become renowned for, the track blends layers of flamenco inspired nylon strung guitars with layers of keys, punching drums, driving bass and subtle electronics.

Topped with a yearning, urgent lead, venomous vocal, the track is given a melodic yet pointed central hook, surrounded by layers of tight harmonies.

Speaking about the single, Mustafa shares: “As the sun rises every morning, so does the insidious spectre of corruption, greed, and moral decay that haunts our world. A staggering $9 billion a day worldwide, $3.3 trillion a year vanishes into the coffers of the corrupt – a huge sum that could alleviate poverty, provide healthcare, arrest climate change, and transform lives.

‘Steal for What?’ is emotionally charged and is based on personal experience of having experienced blatant theft and the slow process of apathy and enduring delay in the justice system. First-hand witnessing of corporate greed, public apathy, and ineffective legal methods has unleashed haste to alarm. Every fibre of my being trembles with indignation at these soulless politicians and government officials feasting on our suffering, their gluttony insatiable, their disregard for morality is unfathomable. It is a universal plea to damn the thieves and hold them accountable, seeking for a system change that can be effective to punish them for their crimes.”

Having already received a whole host of acclaim including the likes of Prog Magazine, The Irish Times, BBC Introducing, RTE, The Irish Independent and Hot Press, Morpheus Project By Mustafa Khetty have created their own lane and look to continue their rapid growth with the upcoming album.

About Mustafa Khetty and Morpheus Project

Mustafa Khetty is a worldly, multifaceted individual with a background that transcends borders. From Sri Lanka to Ireland to London and the Middle East, he has lived an adventurous life as a commodities trader, tech expert, and traveller. With a rich and diverse background, Mustafa Khetty is truly an enigmatic figure with a burning drive to create music.

Immersed in classical, choral and prog rock form a young age, he dreamed of becoming a musician, until his Sri Lankan parents dashed those hopes. But that flame would not be extinguished. Having found himself in the heart of the New York financial district, where he saw the brutal side of life on Wall Street and the importance of holding onto his humanity, he left the cutthroat world of finance and pursued a career in tech, where he found success and fulfilment.

Now returning to his true calling having left the tech world behind and returned to his childhood dream of composing music, Mustafa draws inspiration from a lifetime of travel and exposure to diverse cultures and sounds. The result is The Morpheus Project, a unique band of virtuoso musicians (including acclaimed guitarist Alex Huthchings, virtuoso bass player Anton Davidyants and vocalist Mitchell Emms) creating a fiercely unique, stunning fusion of classic progressive rock and global influences that has been hailed by critics.
