Listen to the music of MOTHER MARY. Featuring Mother Mary: Greatest Hits, performed by Anne Hathaway and co-written by Jack Antonoff, Charli xcx, FKA twigs, and Hathaway. Plus Daniel Hart’s mesmerizing Original Score for the film.

Written & directed by David Lowery and starring Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, Kaia Gerber, and FKA twigs. The film itself, basically it’s about a pop star who needs a dress, awakens when singer Mother Mary (Hathaway – think Lady Gaga) takes to the stage to thunderous applause and sings, electric scenes, however, the songs are not sung in completion, so we never really get to hear the soundtrack.
The costumes Mother Mary wears on stage are very important and vital to her performances, so the entire movie (yes) is devoted to her visit to fashion designer Sam Anselm (Cole – who looks like she is in an entirely different film) in her very huge house. It is a fashion consultation, and a therapeutic visit, one Mary needs as she is going through a hard time. But as the film drags on and on and on we never really get to learn more about Mary and why she chose Sam.
At 112 minutes (trust me – it feels longer), Mother Mary is not the Hathaway movie you want to see now. It will be buried by the juggernaut that is The Devils Wears Prada 2 that opens next week.
It’s sad that the music of Charli xcx and FKA twigs, with music production by Antonoff (Taylor Swift), is wasted on this film.
