fynn studio – one of London’s leading independent art curators – today announced move/003, a new exhibition that champions Black and LGBTQI+ creatives within the dance music scene. Teaming up with DJ and producer SHERELLE, move/003 will launch at Dazed Space, 180 The Strand, London on Friday 1st March, powered by Spotify and AIAIAI and partnered by Dazed.

    Tickets available here

Taking the form of an immersive audio-visual installation, move/003 is the opportunity for audiences to experience a sense of deeper listening. Chaptered into an appreciation of moments such as colour, nostalgia, and solitude, the exhibition condenses the most loved intricacies of raving through a multi sensory love letter to the art of nightlife. Built around the theme of a night out, move/003 is an artistic reinterpretation of ‘moments’ at a rave across nine different zones.

move/003 features work and installations from the likes of Parisian photographer Teddy Dally, Chicago based NFT digital artist Professor Wrecks, nineties rave scene photographer Tristan O’Neil and Ugandan non-binary photographer and social activist DeLovie Kwagala, paired with recorded conversations from artists such as Nia Archives, Loraine James, UK funky legend Roska and SHERELLE. The exhibition shines a light on how some of the most interesting voices within music today have made their careers whilst providing practical guidance for creating community; helping Black and LGBTQI+ creatives apply for funding; and the importance of Black entrepreneurism in nightlife and creating art in a cis white male dominated world.

Re-edits of the recorded conversations featured in move/003 will be released as podcasts on Spotify within the GLOW hub. GLOW is Spotify’s global music program celebrating and amplifying LGBTQIA+ artists and creators. AIAIAI have partnered with BEAUTIFUL and fynn studio to support a series of workshops and talks to further their shared aims of supporting Black and LGBTQI+ creatives finding their feet within the music industry.

    BEAUTIFUL presents: HAAi x AIAIAI
On Monday March 4, BEAUTIFUL is hosting a music production workshop powered by AIAIAI. The workshop will be led by prevalent producer HAAi who, through the success of her most recent album, has claimed her rightful place within the dance music scene. With her versatile background in music and endless need for innovation and exploration, HAAi will dive into her creative process and live set up, using the AIAIAI UNIT-4, the world’s first completely wireless and portable studio monitors. If you are interested in attending the workshop, you can sign up here.

Kobi Prempeh, founder of fynn studio, says: “fynn studio celebrates community through contemporary art, and with move/003 we’ve taken the chance to flip our ethos with a very focused take on the individuals of a community of artists that have been a part of the BEAUTIFUL music initiative that SHERELLE has been running since 2021. Through the conversations we’ve had with these incredible artists, that we’ll share in the show, and with a global audience on Spotify, it has served as such an important opportunity to celebrate these individuals as both artists and more importantly, as people. move/003 is speaking to and representing audiences that are not heard or seen enough within major art venues, and it’s been an honour to work on creating something different.”

    About fynn studio
fynn studio is a leading London based independent art curation collective. With a reputation for championing young creatives, fynn studio has programmed live events at Tate Modern in London and Warehouse Project in Manchester. fynn studio consults the Mayor of London on Black culture, programming Trafalgar Square’s annual celebration of culture and creativity Black On The Square.

    About SHERELLE + BEAUTIFUL
BEAUTIFUL is an initiative set up by Hooversound co-founder, producer and DJ SHERELLE to support new and emerging electronic music producers and DJs from Black and LGBTQI+ communities with exhibitions, workshops and free studio access. The initiative looks to resist the whitewashing that pervades electronic music. Since launching in 2021, BEAUTIFUL has been connecting creatives to celebrate diversity through music, working with AIAIAI to offer free studio time and resources to artists at the BEAUTIFUL Studio in London, and releasing an acclaimed compilation mixtape, BEAUTIFUL PRESENTS: BEAUTIFUL VOL 1, featuring Karen Nyame KG, Roska, TAAHLIAH, Tim Reaper, Nia Archives, Otik and more.
