Alternative-Pop producer, songwriter and vocalist Natalie returns with the striking new single ‘Torment’. LISTEN HERE
Built around a bouncing bass guitar line and pulsing four to the floor kick, ‘Torment’ offers up a simplistic yet atmospheric and affecting dark-electronic-pop soundscape with subtle flecks of synth and electronics. Natalie’s smokey, breathy and beguiling lead vocal shines, marrying emotive delivery with infectious melodies to great effect.
Sitting in the same vein as the likes of Billie Eilish, Laspley and the early work of FKA Twigs, the track is a fine example of Natlie’s unique approach to writing and creating haunting sonic experiences.
Lyrically, the song plays into the back and forth of a tumultuous and toxic relationship. Natalie took full control as she independently produced, wrote, and recorded the track. “I started by creating the bassline, it inspired me immediately. It felt haunting yet playful and I knew I wanted to match that energy lyrically. My favorite songs are the ones that can transition you from your bedroom to a night out.”
Natalie came onto the scene in mid-2018 with her debut EP “Shameful”. After receiving praise from magazines such as Lyrical Lemonade, Earmilk, and Hilly Dilly, Natalie released a string of genre-defying singles, fusing pop toplines with alternative r&b production. Her music has been included on Spotify Editorial playlists including New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Teardrop, and Alternative R&B gaining her millions of streams and a feverish fanbase.
After a series of shows supporting artists such as Trevor Daniel and Asian Doll, Natalie is now back with a fresh, darker pop sound with the promise of more material over the coming months.
