    LITTLE RICHARD I AM EVERYTHING

    FAB UK Review:

Little Richard (Richard Wayne Penniman) was a trailblazer, a Rock & Roll legend who broke barriers and became world famous by the time he was 23.

The life, and the ups and downs of his life, is told in the amazing documentary ‘Little Richard – I am Everything.”

Little Richard was the true king, the originator, and the emancipator of Rock & Roll, a true legend who also never hid his homosexuality. He was way ahead of his time – and this documentary tells his story – a story not many people know.

Told with an excellent combination of Little Richard interviews he did throughout the years, with amazing concert footage displaying his amazing talent, we get a real insight as to who Little Richard was, the man behind the soul, the man behind that voice, and the man who never really got the recognition (and awards) that he so truly deserved. Believe it or not he never won a Grammy Award (he won a Lifetime Achievement Award),  but he was one of the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Even Richard himself states in this documentary that we was not recognized for what he did, what he produced, and what his influence had not just in music but in style, fashion, and culture. Little Richard had dozens of hit records, including his biggest two ’Tutti Frutti,’ and ‘Good Golly Miss Molly.’ Little Richard became a wealthy man, bought a house for his mother, and never kept his sexuality a secret. Later in life he became an evangelist and recorded music with a religious theme. He morphed his style many times, and kept on performing (what he loved to do best) up until he was in his 80’s. Sadly, he died in May 2020, when people were not allowed to get together, so just as in life, he never truly got the recognition (and sendoff) he so richly deserved.

Little Richard and us agree that he was worthy of many accolades that were never bestowed on him. ‘Little Richard – I am Everything’ is definitely one not to miss.
