Niki Karimi, the Iranian actress, filmmaker, and producer, has chosen “Where Is the Friend’s House?” for the review section of the 73rd round of Berlinale known as “Young at Heart, Growing Up in Cinema”, and said at the screening of this film at Cubix 6, “Kiarostami prized humanity and insight above cinema; perhaps that is why his films have been charming the audience for years. Small films, with low budgets, though coming from the heart, watched and praised by all without any extra efforts.”

The movie star added, “I was seventeen years old when I first watched “Where Is the Friend’s House?” It was a Friday afternoon, and it was being aired on TV. I’ll never forget that feeling. A world of a distinctive cinema opened up to me; one that was poetic, humanistic, and vastly different. It became a bridge for me to literature, my main interest, as well as cinema and poetry.”

Presided by Mariette Rissenbeek with artistic management by Carlo Chatrian, the 73rd Berlinale will be held from 16-26 February, 2023, consisting of competition sections such as Main Competition, Generations competition, Forum, Shorts, Documentary, and the non-competition category including Panorama, Special Screening, and Classic Cinema Screening.
