With one week to go until the Marathonbet Festival of Racing, Brighton Racecourse have marked the occasion with a unique photograph staged on Brighton’s seafront with local racehorse ‘Ididitforyoooo’, Brighton-based jockey Joshua Moore and Executive Director of Brighton Racecourse Paul Ellison.

The image, which mirrors the event’s quirky and outside-the-box narrative, took place against the spectacular backdrop of the iconic Brighton Palace Pier to mark the Festival’s return to this historic racing city.

The three-day Festival, running from 8-10th August, will be the premiere event in Brighton racecourse’s summer calendar and includes Marston’s Day on Wednesday 8th, staging Brighton’s richest race – The Bombardier Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy race – and the ever-popular Ladies Day on Thursday 9th before the racing comes to a triumphant close on Friday 10th with the Festival Finale.

Widely regarded as one of the most unique experiences on the racing calendar, coupled with the picturesque views over the countryside and overlooking the seaside, it makes for one of the best racing experiences imaginable.

Joshua Moore, whose father Gary Moore is the biggest dual-purpose trainer in the UK, views Brighton Racecourse as one of the most memorable courses in the country, and the Brighton-born jockey believes that the Marathonbet Festival of Racing is not only one of the annual highlights for the city, but also in the racing calendar. He said:

“Brighton is a truly special racecourse. Not only does it have such a close connection to me, but my entire family, who have been fortunate enough to experience so much success there over the years.

“The event provides amateur jockeys with the chance to compete on a major stage, in the most beautiful course in the country, and offers racegoers the chance to enjoy three days of entertainment and enjoyable racing.”

His sister and fellow jockey Hayley Moore, who earlier this year became the first female on-course commentator at a UK racecourse, also has fond memories of Brighton Racecourse and is looking forward to this year’s Marathonbet Festival of Racing. She added:

“It’s probably the best three days you could possibly get when it comes to racing at Brighton. You are going to get some good quality racehorses in action at this historic meeting. My grandad used to have horses racing there and now my dad runs horses regularly so it’s really exciting.

“Ladies Day, on Thursday 9th August, is one of my highlights as you get to see the true culture of Brighton and it’s fantastic to see everyone dressed up. In true Brighton style you get to see all sorts of people taking part and makes you proud to be from Brighton.”

Looking ahead to this year’s event, Paul Ellison Chief Executive of Brighton Racecourse, said:

“The Marathonbet Festival of Racing is an event like no other, that much is for sure. We like to do things a little differently at Brighton, we’re eccentric and we’re all for equality and having a good time.

“From the quirky outfits on show to the 1,500 bottles of Prosecco consumed over the three days, we have it all and we’re always thinking outside the box. This photo-shoot is an excellent opportunity to showcase what we have to offer in a week’s time; fabulous views, great horses and lots of fun!

“We’re widely known by the racing community as one of the friendliest race events on the calendar, this coupled with our wonderful views, which are best enjoyed in person might I add, makes us the luxury event of the summer in the South!”

Tickets for the Marathonbet Festival of Racing at Brighton Racecourse are available online, starting from £15. For more information or to buy tickets, please visit: www.brighton-racecourse.co.uk
