indie rock band Peach Pit has released new song “Vickie” from their forthcoming album From 2 to 3 due March 4. . The upbeat track arrives alongside an official video that was filmed by their longtime collaborator Lester Lyons-Hookham and is reminiscent of the band’s visual for their breakthrough hit “Seventeen.”
In speaking about the inspiration behind “Vickie,” lead-singer Neil Smith says: “I was hanging out with my friend Vickie a few years back, and we got to talking about her birthday which was coming up. Without me asking, she said ‘all I want for my birthday is for someone to write a song about me’. Anyways, I got the hint. I’d actually already started writing something that began with the line ‘If you lived right down the street’ and decided to make a song about what life would be like if Vickie and I were neighbors. Now years later the song is on our new record and you get to see the journey from my place to Vickie’s in the music video.”
From 2 to 3 will be released both digitally and physically, including on vinyl, and is available for pre-order now. Produced by Robbie Lackritz [Feist, Jack Johnson], the 11-track LP infuses more organic and acoustic elements into Peach Pit’s signature-smooth sound, with many band members playing multiple instruments on the record such as tambourine, cowbell, harmonica, lap steel, and more. From 2 to 3 includes “Vickie” as well as previously released songs “Up Granville” and “Look Out!” – see tracklisting below.
Peach Pit will embark on a UK tour which will kick off on 9th May in Dublin, Ireland and includes stops in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Brighton, and Manchester, before concluding in London for a huge headline show at o2 Forum Kentish Town on 19th May.
