Pink Milk Announce Epic New Single, Heart of Fire, First New Material Since their Debut Album

Following their critically acclaimed debut album, 2017s Purple, Swedish duo Pink Milk have released their brand-new single, Heart of Fire, a devastatingly powerful and cinematic shoegaze ballad – a mini-masterpiece in its own right. With further releases and live appearances already planned for the rest of 2019, this is the year that Edward and Maria are set to redefine shoegaze and post-rock.

Featuring Maria on vocals and drums and Edward on guitars and bass, Pink Milk are not just heard, they’re felt, such is the towering magnitude of the noise they are able to conjure from such seemingly meagre resources. Heart of Fire is a ballad written by Maria to her recently-born first child, with an aching tenderness which still exhibits of the hallmarks of Pink Milk’s astonishingly vast, cinematic sound. In fact, it was the impending arrival of her baby girl which led to them cancelling their planned appearances at 2018s SXSW Festival, though this has led to an increase in work on new material, as well as rave reviews from live appearances across Sweden and at festivals such as Subkultfestivalen and Peace & Love Festival.

“Purple” came out in 2017 and instantly ended up at first place on the Swedish critic’s chart Kritiker.se, where it is now consolidated as the best album of the month. Sweden’s biggest music magazine Gaffa gave the album 6 out of 6 stars and called it “the best album released for many years” while the English The Indiependent wrote “one of the most consistently great post-punk albums of the year”.

Pink Milk was also nominated for best rock/metal of the year in the prestigious P3 Gold-award, Album of the Year and Breakthrough of the Year in Gaffa, WOW of the Year in Rockskallen Music Awards and Shoegaze album of the Year on the US radio channel DKFM.
