Q1. Tell us about your day job ?

A; My Job consists of responding to wide range of 999 emergency calls made to the ambulance service. I start the day by going to the ambulance station dropping my car off and getting into my assigned ambulance for that day. I also drive on blue lights as well as treat patients , a lot of people think us as paramedics have drivers that take us to the jobs but we don’t we do a bit of everything ! I’m trained to save and preserve life in my day job ranging from medical to trauma causes of illness.

Q2. When did you first enter Miss England and what made you enter?

A; I first entered Miss England last year , I had seen it advertised a few times but never felt like I would have the confidence. I took a chance last year and realised I had nothing to loose but didn’t think I would gain what I have.

I made some amazing friends & as part of the Beauty with a Purpose round in Miss England I been able to educate others of CPR and AED’s, confidence and belief in myself has been a massive part of my journey. It was a challenge to myself to enter and the whole charity aspect of Miss England and feel of supporting one another through the process.

Q3. How did you find the experience of your first pageant & what was the process?

A; I found it challenging but in a good way I felt really fulfilled after that I actually went and put myself out there and hopefully inspired others to do so too . I took part in a heat and then I voted as the winner of the heat and won my first tiara on St Georges day at the national Prom show !  I took part in the Miss England semi final at the Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites & Residences in August 2022 and it was there I won my Miss Black Country title and a place in the final ! It was so lovely to meet such wonderful people in the contest as well as the organisers and of course Angie the founder who has such a warm heart.

Q4. Did you win any awards at the Miss England final, if so tell us about that and what you’ve been doing since?

A; I won the Beautiful Brows and Lashes social media award and the Fawless photographic award in the Miss England final!

For the Beautiful brows award,  I created a vlog of how I do my eyebrows using the amazing beautiful brows products

For the flawless photography award we were invited to an fabulous studio In Manchester and had a photoshoot!  I got all dressed up and one photo from the shoot was put forward to the contest.

Beautiful Brows and Lashes are  now sponsoring my trip to the Top Model of the World contest in Egypt and take part in a competition . I’m so grateful.

Flawless have invited me to come back for another shoot which sounds so fun!

Q5. Have you ever wanted to be a model

A;I did often thought about how I could use my height of being 6ft to my advantage as opposed to a disadvantage which is how I’ve seen it a lot of my life. This competition has really flipped my thoughts around and you can be any size or shape or height , you’ve just got enjoy what you’re doing and the little taste I’ve had of modelling I am really enjoying and would love to pursue it further.

Q A with NHS Paramedic Alice Jones – UK entry to Top Model of the World 2023 Egypt March 3rd 2

Q6. Tell us your likes and dislikes –

A; This is a tough question for me because I like a lot of things!  I absolutely love food! Pizza is my ultimate and my own cooked roast dinner with all the trimmings. I’m a big foodie and love to eat ! I think it’s important to showcase that in todays society where the pressure to look good and not eat certain foods is actually so fine

Dislikes ; Bad manners ! I value good manners as it costs nothing to be kind

Q7.  There’ s stigmas attached to pageants in this country , why do you think that is and what do you say to people who dont agree with them?

A; Honestly I really don’t understand why people would want to put others down . If they are happy in doing what they are doing and it serves them , then why not . Be someone’s biggest cheerleader. People are always going to have their own opinions so as long as you don’t allow them to get to you and just remember why you’re doing what you’re doing . I think the negative stigma comes from people think of glitz and glamour when the think of a pageant and being very polished but that diamond you see on stage has had had to be polished to be there and come from the ground in some cases just like a real diamond.

Q8. What charity do you support?

A; I went to Ghana recently to provide voluntary medical aid. I did malaria testing in schools, worked in a walk in centre and did community wound care. I also walked 36 miles between my local hospitals which took me 13 hours which signifies the nearest hospital to the village I stayed in , when I Ghana . I also  raised money for PAPYRUS a Young suicide prevention charity by doing cake sales this is also very important as my job role as a paramedic I’ve seen suicides and the impact on those around them.

Q9. Tell us about your  CPR video on Youtube.

A; I’ve made a video on how to do CPR , how to get help and how to use an AED. Miss England was an amazing platform to provide education to the public on how to do this and if my video raises enough awareness and one person saves one life from my video my experience with Miss England was worth it. My first interest came as a fact I read that stated people are 23% less likely to do CPR on a female for fear of sexual assault and this was prevalent in the miss England contest due to being female dominated . I wanted to change this by education and allow people to feel confident in recognising someone In cardiac arrest and feel confident in knowing what to do. All too often at work I go to cardiac arrests and no one has started CPR and it literally could save someone’s life! My brother filmed and edited the video, he is very good at things like that and my whole family support me in any way they can and that was my brothers way of showing support.

Q10. Will anyone be going to support you in Egypt & who is your biggest fan?

A; Not currently anyone coming with me due to work commitments but I know they will be cheering me on at home. I would say my dad is my biggest fan he came to the first catwalk I did for the national prom show that was arranged when I entered Miss England , he was at the front row cheering me on. He always says ‘if anyone can do it, you can Alice’ this is something that’s always stuck with me through hard times or testing times. Like Miss England and when I went for my exams to become a paramedic.

Q11. Have you ever been to Egypt before and what are you most looking forward to?

A; I’ve never been to Egypt but I’ve always wanted to go it looks an amazing country. The resort where I’m staying is called the Sunrise White Hills which looks incredible! I’m honestly so humbled to of been given this opportunity, I still can’t believe it . I would say I’m looking forward to meeting new people, the food, pushing myself further, having a once in a lifetime experience . I never thought I would be invited to something like this. I’m just going to give it my all, like everything I do In life and what will be will be.

Q12. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time

A; I’d like to take modelling a bit more seriously and see how far I can get with that , continuing on with my fitness journey and lifting heavier weights in the gym, continuing my career as a paramedic and take educating the public in terms of CPR and how to use AED’s further . I recently qualified as a mentor at work and mentor up coming paramedic’s, this is important to me to continue to develop and support the next generation and give them as much enthusiasm as I have. I just want to continue to live a happy healthy life and take any opportunities that come my way , because in my line of work I know all too well that we only have one life.

    Any special mentions;

A; Big big big thank you to Angie Beasley who I can’t thank enough for making Miss England happen and giving me the opportunities I’ve been given , she is honestly a true warm hearted lady. Beautiful Brows & Lashes for sponsoring my trip to Egypt.

I’m such a lucky girl and I am debt to those who have supported including all my family but specifically my parents , my Nan and my brother and sister, who are just my biggest supporters and are the reason I’m where I am today.

    Thank you for the interview
