On Monday we will give audiences the opportunity to get under the skin of our art forms by handing the reins of the ROH Instagram account to mezzo-soprano Rebecca Lodge Birkebaek of The Royal Opera Chorus, who will answer audience questions via Instagram Stories.
We are excited to present a unique Facebook Premiere featuring the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and Royal Opera Chorus in a socially-distanced performance of the ‘Hallelujah’ Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
On Friday we will present the first in our new series of ROH Rewind, which will feature a member of The Royal Opera and Principal of The Royal Ballet, Marianela Núñez, who will present clips of their favourite performances.
Following on from the hugely popular broadcasts of The Royal Ballet’s Peter and the Wolf and The Royal Opera’s Acis and Galatea, the ROH presents the next in our series of free weekly production broadcasts with a Facebook and YouTube premiere of Jonathan Miller’s Armani-designed Mozart’s Così fan tutte from 7pm on Friday.
We also look forward to introducing another episode of House Music, featuring the Music Director of The Royal Opera, Tony Pappano, as he plays and discusses some of his favourite pieces from the opera repertory.
Looking beyond next week, on Easter Monday The Royal Ballet will share an exclusive new short dance film featuring Marcelino Sambé in collaboration with Cloakroom magazine.
We are also proud to announce the full-length broadcast of Beethoven favourite, Fidelio. This will be broadcast on BBC Four television in May.
