Monica Bellucci, one of Europe’s most glamourous actresses, rose to international stardom thanks to her collaboration with Hollywood’s greatest directors. Nominated at the Césars in 1995 for her part in Gilles Mimouni’s The Apartment, this multifaceted actress has managed to become both a popular icon and a muse of arthouse cinema. Twice Mistress of Ceremonies at the Cannes Festival in 2003 and 2007, and James Bond girl in 2015, this most French of Italian actresses, will chair the 29th edition of the Dinard Film Festival from 26 to 30 September 2018.
A showcase of contemporary, challenging cinema, both promoting niche productions and open to a wide audience, the “Festival du film britannique de Dinard” became the Dinard Film Festival for its 29th edition. “Dinard Film festival” is easy to understand in both languages and convenient to use on social media. In a period of confinement into national boundaries, it is very important to use words as bridges and not fences across the Channel.
Once again, Dinard is delighted to become a British enclave on Breton soil for five days by offering the general public and professionals alike a selection of films in competition, previews and retrospectives, special screenings and discussions, as well as master classe and tributes to the greatest British directors and actors. These screenings and events will be attended by prestigious guests, the crews of the films in competition and the jury, whose president, Monica Bellucci, will award the Golden Hitchcock.
True to the legendary British phlegm and sense of humour, the Dinard Film Festival sets out to fulfil its mission once again: to enable rare, original, independent films to find distributors and reach a wide French audience.
