THE UNIQUE Anglo-Russian Sochi International Film Festival and Awards (SIFFA) confirmed today (04/06/2021) its 6th annual consecutive cinematic show-piece will run from 5th to 10th November 2021 in its home city, the stunning Black Sea resort of Sochi.
SIFFA organisers in both the UK and Russia have already received over 400 film submissions from around the world, vying for selection to be screened at SIFFA 2021. The official SIFFA 2021 submission deadline passed on 1st June.
As restrictions on cultural and social events and gatherings have been gradually lifted across the Caucasus region of southern Russia, SIFFA can now finalise a full schedule of venues for screenings and musical Festival events, culminating in the glittering Gala Awards Night ceremony itself, which traditionally attracts a glamorous host of stars and dignitaries to Russia’s Black Sea ‘Pearl’ of Sochi.
SIFFA was one of only a handful of film festivals which managed to stage a physical event in 2020, although there was much reduced public access. Full details are available on SIFFA’s website: www.siffarussuk.com
“We are delighted about this and forever grateful to the Mayor of Sochi and all the relevant cultural authorities in Russia for granting our SIFFA the go-ahead this year,” said SIFFA Founder and President Luba Balagova, who is based in the UK.
“We shall aim to breathe new life into cinema-going, film-making and all artistic endeavours in Sochi, the wider Caucasus region and of course, links with the UK,” said Mrs Balagova, herself a published author, poet and singer.
SIFFA also hopes it can soon announce details of a prestige UK event this year, as and when pandemic restrictions allow.
